I had kept up a steady and modest step/mileage/day goal for 100 days-ish though the onset of the clock shifts and the misery of running at night in the rain, well, it broke me this week. I guess If I lived in Quilcene it would have done me in way sooner....

Went through the Columbus Day storm, hiding under my bed. Nothing has compared so far...
The onset of the Columbus Day storm was amazing. It was just an instant wall of wind. My mom picked me up at my high school and we headed to their place at the coast for the weekend. She stopped at the little village of Rickreall for gas about 4 o'clock and I went inside to get a Coke. It was calm on arrival, but before the tank was full the hundred year old Black Walnut across the road was down and the power was out. We spent the next 5 1/2 hours inside an all-glass Richfield station with half a dozen other folks, watching trees and power poles topple and various building components blow overhead. After dark it was pretty spooky hearing the carnage we could not see.

The early snow pack is meeting expectations for a La Niña year and looking promising for WA, OR, most of ID, and western MT

I see Mt Bachelor has already had 80+ inches of snow and has a current base of 47 inches. They opened for an early weekend this past weekend, earliest opening in a long time - hope it keeps up.
Here in the Poconos, we have been under a red flag warning for much of the past 3 weeks - forecast to get some rain and maybe some snow later this week, I'm hopin', our artesian well that feeds the pond has run dry, though the spring is still going.

As long as I have power (got it back on Monday) I do not care...No rain today...but it is now in what I call the '47/37 time'...grey all day and a 10⁰ difference in temps throughout the day.
When it warms up a bit, it'll be raining, if cools down a bit, it'll be snowing.
