Puget Sound

Carpe humpy....
😁

Fun day out on the water with @Steve_S
Thank you for the invite.

There isn’t a lost and found forum that I could find, so I’m asking for members help.
If anyone happens to catch an approximately 5 lb male humpy with a slight case of diaper rash that has a small pink fly in its mouth, 8’ of 12 lb Maxima Ultragreen and 3-6” of a Airflo 40+ fly line, I’d appreciate getting my leader back.
Thanks
SF

Fun day in MA9 today. Fished from 530-10am. Was calm the fist hour and then the forecasted wind came up. It was just strong enough to make casting twice as much effort but not quite enough to stop fishing. Same with the waves, grass from incoming today, bigger at times but fishable.

Went 7/13 or so on resident coho that were all a few inches from being bonkable, no clear bigger fish but enough to bend the rod. No pinks were seen within view from my half of the beach.

Seals and ospreys were having similar success. Highlight of the morning was watching a buzz bomb guy hook a larger fish, sprint backwards to drag the fish up the sand as his buddy stood in the water and tried to set a screen on the seal in hot pursuit.

Got out today with @Steve_S and my daughter.

My daughter caught her first salmon. She was using a buzzbomb.1000012779.jpg

Steve got a nice hatchery Coho.

I got a decent Pink as well.

Hit 8-1 for the opener today as well as fished MA-6 from a friend’s boat.
We caught 6-7 pinks and one hatchery coho using a variety of methods, including some considered dirtbag. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚
Nice, fun day on the water.

Fished for about 3 hours this morning, went 0/0 with one 16” shaker landed. More of a test run for my new TFO Blitz which I’m happy with. Very easy to cast and rockets line with little effort. I saw quite a few pinks caught on the other side of the beach so I’ll be over there tomorrow when there’s hopefully less peopleπŸ™‚

Forgot to bring the sand from the beach to marinate him. Got this guy on a dart jig! Lost more than I can count on the buzzbomb and dart jig, probably 2 for 10 total? Wanted to let him go but the dart jigs seem to do a number on them, even with a #1 siwash. This fish was bleeding (Not convinced it was a fatal bleed but my dad wanted to keep it) and the next smaller female was hooked in the eye. Highlights of the day were the momma seal and her pup swimming in the marina, and watching a school of 5 or more pinks chase my buzzbomb right to the boat.

Tried to get the fly rod out but every time I would start setting it up my dad would hook a fish and I would have to get ready with the net (Even though most were lost). By the time I finally got it set up the bite had died off. Casted my SA Sonar Titan Type 7 for the first time and I am in love with this line. It casts amazingly well, and is a great fit for the Echo Boost Blue. When the time to replace my RIO Outbound Short comes I will definitely try the Scientific Angler version.

Hope to get out soon while they are still in!

Nice fish.
I think you have some time.

Right now I think you have to just set the fly rod up, ideally strip a cast’s worth of line off it, and either wait for targets to appear in range or cruise around and try to sneak in on some.
