Not an issue of fairness. My point isn't that some vehicles should pay more or less than others. My point that 175 bucks id ridiculous regardless what you drive given that the government in Olympia refuses to reign in their spending.I doubt that my 2005 Prius weighs more than the vast majority of vehicles on the road. It still gets about 48 mpg on the highway and uses zero gas in town driving. I still have to pay more for registration even though I have a lighter than most vehicle, doing my bit for the environment, and saving gas for the remainder of the gas hog vehicles to use. Totally fair!
This is the evolution of a locked thread. I saw many in the distant past when a great NW Fly fishing site suffered from skirmishes that developed often. Many contributors. No namesI understand all 3 items above. I don't see how doing #3 necessarily even helps with 1 and 2. In fact, I would say that 3 is a poor answer to the issues that 1 and 2 represent.
I think the issue is that I don't really know who the "they" that you speak of is. If "they" are the representatives in Olympia, then I can see your point, however, cutting the pay of Rep's won't make a dent in the budget. If "they" is state employees then I think that would be a poor tactic and probably cost a lot more in the long run. It's not like the average state employee is making big bucks. Balancing the budget on the backs of your employees salaries is generally quite short sighted in my opinion.
I think that you should do all that you can to be an active participant in our state and lobby for the state government that you want. If that is a government that provides fewer things or with different priorities, you should get involved as best as you can.
I dunno, maybe im wrong but I think this group is grown a little bit beyond that. We know how eachother think and give eachother a lot of grace by not responding the way we might have a few years ago. This is the evolution of a locked thread. Yep. It's the property taxes that will eventually get me.I’d trade the cost of my 99 Ford Explorer tabs all day versus the affect that the McCleary decision had on my property taxes…..
Carry on.

We've had two bond measures (a big hospital expansion and school levy) fail in the past six months - it seems the majority of people felt taxes for the hospital and school were too much with recent property tax increases..........Yep. It's the property taxes that will eventually get me.
I know you have and I have however your recent comment sparked the memories and I think it warranted an allusion to a past loss of a great thing.I dunno, maybe im wrong but I think this group is grown a little bit beyond that. Is there a HazMat charge on that rig ?I’d trade the cost of my 99 Ford Explorer tabs all day versus the affect that the McCleary decision had on my property taxes…..

You leave the bluegills alone…If it makes you feel any better, it cost me almost $90 for fill up my Xterra (woulda been nearly $50 if I were limited by my Prius sized gas tank)! Inflation....natural causes or unnatural causes is still inflation.
BUT, guess what I'm gonna be doing tomorrow on a lake that starts with M with big flies for big fish?
A friend of at friend hasn't bought tabs in over 10yrs, only 1 ticket for under 200 bucks, just saying![]()
2weeks ago chevron 7.09 premium for jeannes PriusGas is current 4.75/ gal for regular at the north store gas pumps here in Sunriver. Had an appt on the eastside of Bend yesterday and gas was $5.95 at a station I passed by.
Those of us old enough to have gone through this never want to again.
Starting think having an EV in the family might be a smart hedge going forward....

Did not a lot of relief come from gambling and prostitution in instead? A friend who I had taught with for years moved to NV where whe told us that teachers don't know the word "no" in NV!All I know is Oregon, Washington, and Cali are experts in taking money from us working stiffs…..when I lived in NV with no income tax, my money went further. I much prefer sales tax to income….you want to buy a lot of shit, thanks for the tax contribution!
