Have feet as flat as a sidewalk, so the anti-pronation structure they employ is what keeps me coming back to the Beast.Well, that makes one of us. Not a Brooks guy (they stick with EVA foam which I've long moved past). They're comfortable, but not fun to run in for me. But that's a whole other thread, haha.
Yeah, lots has changed in the last 5yrs or so with foams and I jumped on the "new" bandwagon. Brooks and Hoka are the main hold-outs, and it's worked well for them. EVA is comfortable and familiar, so anyone trying on shoes is going to pick them. The new PEBA and other material foams are far better for running, and inherently more stable. So there's not as much need for the extra medial support since the new foams behave very differently. BUT - one shoe I recommend to those I coach who have those "flat as a sidewalk" or "foot shaped like a tube" issue is the Saucony Hurricane. It's like the Beast but uses a more modern foam, so much better energy return.Have feet as flat as a sidewalk, so the anti-pronation structure they employ is what keeps me coming back to the Beast.
When I worked at the Podiatry college, we had a constant flow of running shoes reps showcasing their products for the teachers and clinical students (the school running club had over a hundred members), so got to try on dozens of athletic shoes and the Beast always emerged as the best anti-pronation shoe.
Come winter, I'm never out of my Merrell mid high boots for the same reason.

If I just was going for walking/wearing around shoes, I'd pick the Brooks, though. The more modern foams are very specific to running and aren't fun to walk around in.
That's a premium experience right there! Love that place...I bought from Dusty Strings in Fremont
I've been eyeing one of their tents for a few years now. Definitely a premium product! The Cowboy Bedroll by Ellis Canvas Tents with the pad. Asked my kids to be buried in it. Sometimes pared with an old army cot, best grab and go, dirtbag camping setup ever.
One of my favorite things to do when I'm back in Seattle. That's a premium experience right there! Love that place...
