Pass Lake Toxic Algae report.

I've never had the eagle scare, on the other hand, loons. I don't know how many times I've watched loons swim right beneath my swim fins when kicking around lakes in BC. Those birds can fly underwater. Loons learn to key in on hooked fish; both my friend Keith and I have had trout "stolen" by loons while fighting the fish. More common is the loon waiting nearby to capture a released trout.
What he said👆.... and because they have a big ole' hole puncher of a beak, I'll have a startle reflex like Salmo, which will cause an irrational flashback to Jaws...which dang near causes a capsize accompanied by some school girl shrieking 🤪

I've had a fish taken off the line by eagles, but I agree that the loons are far worse offenders in the lake. Not only do they try to take fish off the line, but they stay with a boat swimming back and forth and underneath. It can make cast/retrieve and indicator fishing very difficult. Long line trolling is sometimes the only thing that works until they leave you alone. The fish deterrent aspect of the loons bother me a lot more than the fish stealing. Also, they don't care about the size of the fish...they will try to steal fish 25"+ even though they have trouble getting down a 14" fish.

Is it illegal to take a paintball gun into Canada?

Oh the joy that that bird must be experiencing. I imagine that being a Bald Eagle, stealing a fish from a human, to fly home for a sushi dinner, must be a very enjoyable experience. I wonder if the Eagles nesting at Pass Lake are the tough guys, that muscled their way into the easy life of fish stealing.....or are they the lazy ones that "cop out" of earning an honest living, eating salmon? Either way..I like the way they roll.

I fished Munn Lake today. This dude was right over me for 20 minutes, but I didn't have to worry about him stealing any fish. 😁
It was SLOW. 39 degree dirty water. I saw one fish caught by a guy in a jon boat. The rese of us (6 or 7) got blanked.

The eagle was carrying a couple sticks around looking for a nesting site. He checked out 2 or 3 different spots and had the sticks with him the whole time.
Seems early to start, but maybe some eagle people on here know.

A couple of years ago, I was Bass fishing on Clear Lake, in Western Washington. The Eagle landed in a particular tree, and meticulously picked out several branches. When it flew off with the branches, I watched it fly a very long distance until I could not see it any longer. I think Bald Eagles work very hard to make a perfect nest.

Fished the sludge with @Kfish yesterday from daybreak to about noon. Hooked 7, landed 4. Pretty slow fishing all around. Used a classic @Stonedfish style flashy clouser a good bit and hooked a few. Switched over to a small Dalli Llama to target browns for a good chunk and only got two dark, colored up rainbows. Finally switched to an olive leach/bugger and did not touch a fish casting and stripping it but did hook two back trolling it from shore to shore when switching spots. Lost them both though. There was a boat fishing something under a bobber and they were catching a few as well. It was too damn cold for me to sit still with the feet in the water watching an indicator though, so I never even rigged one up.

Water did not look too bad actually. Eagles were present but left us alone…

Pretty reasonable to start fixing up that elaborate nest they make. Also, they sometimes make more than one. They have a fairly long gestation/incubation time…they gotta get busy…
