Well, we're finally at the end of our journey (I hope). We have settled in a nice little place in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. We have a few acres and a pond. I'll focus on the pond for now, it is the focal point of the property. It does need some beatification, shoring up of some banks, more grasses and flowers. It is also fed by an artesian well, which we will build up around and create a waterfall.

When we first got her a couple of weeks ago, I thought I saw a hen mallard out back, but she then disappeared. We had a pair of Drakes paddling around in the pond:

On a boulder in the pond:

We also have numerous frogs, which I imagined were huge bullfrogs from the volume of the noise they make at night, but in fact are rather small:

Then 2 nights ago, the Hen showed up with about a dozen little ones:

Think this pond is going to be fun. Hope to explore some Pooconos thin blue lines soon.

cheers

Congratulations on finding your piece of Paradise!

Looks great, congrats! Are there fish in the pond?

Looks wonderful - congratulations!

Place where I grew up and fished for "Native Wild Brook Trout" only a bike ride from my home. Congrats on landing in one of the best fly fishing states in this great land.
Enjoy. Explore. That area got hit hard by gypsy moth a few decades ago. Hopefully the trees are returning.
Grew up west of there... plenty of trout opportunities, and smallmouth in the rivers, especially the Susquehanna

Couple of words come to mind: jealous and envious...

Congratulations, Chris, that's such good news. I'm glad you've landed in the right place. I hear there's even some fly fishing in the area, although nothing to rival your Lady M.

I have my truck and camper packed. Ready for some quiet company?

Apparently there were some years back, some trouts I was told. There is a small creek outflow that goes through several neighbors properties that apparently had trouts, but the previous owner, we have been told, kind of screwed things up and feeshes are gone. The previous owners only used the place as a weekend getaway and did not maintain to the best (we have work to do). We plan to restock once we get all things worked out.

Plan to hunt some of those "natives" down, though apparently not that easy to find anymore, a lot of stockers and Brownies have taken over. From what I hear, a 12" native is a prize, still, lots of fun on a 3 wt cane.

Little rivals the Lady M, I certainly miss her. Lots of thin blue lines around here, mostly on private property, but quite a bit in gamelands; should be fun exploring, though I will have to ditch the desire to wear tweed and and instead wear orange.

If you are ever out this way @PhilR, do give me a shout.

Cheers
