Oros Indicators in Bulk

Love me some Canadian bacon and pineapple on pizza. Can't begin to comprehend the OP's issue and think @Old406Kid nailed it. I do think this thread is a fine example of First World problems. The The SeegerCatorworked really well today with a Jim Beam beneath it.
What's hard to comprehend? The painted ones show up better than factory ones. If they work fine in your eyesight then great. But them I guess its easy to understand that you don't get it....I mean Canadian bacon and pineapple.....LOL.

Ok buzzy just pulling your chain here.

getting Canadian bacon may become a problem...and pineapples are going to be $47 each...

Nothing to understand.. we all fly fish and like to make things harder than they need to be! Party 🥳 on Wayne!

Could happen. I just read that a massive tariff was placed on an island off the coast of Australia whose only inhabitants are penguins. And they are pissed.
They’re gonna start holding in their guano.

No guano for you!

I hear these work well. Little dry/dropper action? Pineapple on top and maybe some ham on the bottom?

The owner of the company is pretty amazing. @FlyFishDan works with him and might be able to give you more information about bulk buying.

As for painting them to make them easier to see, I’ve come to terms with the idea of not yucking someone else’s yumm, and the idea is not any more weird than any of the thousand other things we do to poke holes in fishes mouths, so freaking go for it.

I do find the Oros to be not the best tool for the job in deepwater. For that I prefer slip indicators, but either way, I do like the ability to mix and match colors and if you really want to feel out a bit, you can also mess with different sizes as well, as in a small hemisphere on top and a medium hemisphere on the bottom. Two different sizes and colors are really easier to pick out on the water. Something to consider.

I mix the colors up on Oros indicators but never considered (and probably wouldn't have thought of) two different sizes screwed together. I just threaded a small to a medium. Now I have to try this Oros mixed color and mixed size technique; got the perfect little lake for this (where a slip Iracator isn't needed). Huh!

Report on painted indicators.

Been out 5 times now using the oros that I painted. Fished a couple of those times with a buddy using factory colored ones.

1. The painted ones are easier to see. How much easier is subjective but its noticeable.
2. But this to me has been the biggest improvement. When I look away to take a bite of food, get a drink, or chat with a buddy when I look back I can find my indicator WAY quicker.
3. Fished now in full sun, partial sun, cloudy and really dark clouds. I see these better, period especially looking into a glare.

So laugh on but they work for me.

In your estimation, how many more fish did you catch with them? Is this like 28 vs 26, or 28 vs 2?

Hard to quantify since you aren't seeing them side by side and really able to determine how well you detect the bites. But I will go out on a limb and say its substantially more effective. If I had to put a number on it I'd guess its 25% more effective. BUT that's totally dependent on the users eyesight. If you are 30 then probably not worth doing this. If you are 60+ then I would give it a try. Its easy to do and not costly so why not!

Mike go back and look at post #21.
Got it. I missed that those were painted. Whether it is customizing boats, fly rods, fly boxes, flies, tapered leaders, or indicators...some will see the value and say it is worth it, and others will not understand why we put in the effort. But this is part of what makes the sport fun, and sometimes addicting. Congrats on finding something that works better for you.
