Thanks Dave, that's very generous and thoughtful of you as many had to leave with little or nothing. I only hope that everyone had decent insurance coverage so they can start to rebuild their lives.Truly horrid news, we can’t imagine the situation now for you. x2...a critical reminder to check on your house fire insurance.I only hope that everyone had decent insurance coverage so they can start to rebuild their lives.
That's definitely a concern going forward if we rebuild... First, is it going to be insurable and if so at what rate?x2...a critical reminder to check on your house fire insurance.
Fire insurance rates have been going up quickly as insurance companies move to geographic area risk algorithms vs individual house location, with some of the largest insurers moving to pull out of the fire insurance business in high risk areas.
Our oldest son was about to make an offer on a bay area house last week when he found out it's hilly location was deemed high risk due to adjacent treed terrain, so fire insurance was quoted at 10K a year.
One of the projected outcomes of the building mega El Nino is 2027 being the warmest year on record globally with yet another drought year throughout the PNW.
SICK Bastards!!!Easily one of the stupidest f*n thing ever is prediction betting for forest fires...this is insane:
"During the LA fire that claimed lives, Polymarket, one of the leading prediction market platforms, while the fire was raging took bets on how how many acres the fires would consume, which locations the flames would reach and when they would be contained."
The fires sweeping through the PNW and the rest of the nation, which so far has consumed over 6 million acres? Being bet on. So Senator Merkley of OR has been calling for the federal government to make it a federal crime to bet on wildfires. Result? Congress went on vacation.
Chance of a fire being deliberately set by a douchebag to bet on it?
It's like someone invented a chemical that kills common sense and it has been introduced into all of our nations water supplies.
Agreed. SICKSICK Bastards!!!
