Sorta fishing-related

As I feared our home was a total loss and we are now wading through the insurance process which is not easy with our limited computer skills.
Unlike many others we feel very fortunate that we have a second home in MT and are basing out of there for now. We lost a lot but have most of the living essentials whereas others had to leave with only the shirt on their back.
Here's a couple of pictures of the devastation and remains of our house and garage.
The second picture shows the frame of one of my pontoon boats.

It is hard to hear and see that. I had been hoping for a different outcome. Your computer skills are probably better than mine so I'm no help there but in spite of never having met or had a conversation please know my thoughts are with you. Bill

I am so sorry for your loss. What a terrible tragedy for the city. Having just done a much smaller homeowners claim, I feel for you there. It is a lot of communication, just make sure you write down and understand what they tell you any time you have them on the phone. I made them spell a lot of things out to me and it was worthwhile.

I'm so sorry to hear this!

Fuck that's brutal man. So sorry. There's some computer savvy folks on here that I'm sure would be willing to help out however they can.
Both myself and my wife spent the better part of yesterday trying to get our Canon printer to recognize our laptops using WiFi,, finally gave up and went into our tiny town to buy a USB to printer cable. No luck at the Gambles hardware store and a variety store, finally went to a print shop and the guy dug and dug until he happened to find one. After hearing my story he refused to accept any payment which did my heart good. The next hurdle was electronic signatures which I think we finally figured out. Tried to print their inventory list and it didn’t come out like the print preview showed. After about 30 pages I pushed stop printing and will try again tomorrow. Haven’t even got to debris cleanup, hazmat, etc.

I'm so sorry for your loss; all the time spent in your HOME and the work you've done. The family possessions lost due to this horrific event. Tragic! Be strong, call if you want to talk/Pat

That's awful news, I hope some of your family photos and other important things made it to your other place. It's sure hard to also see the houses in the background of your picture seem to have made it out just fine meaning the edge of the fire line was literally yards from your place.

Thanks Ben, I believe we have a mutual acquaintance, Scott, Dave’s best friend and Dave was someone I fished with regularly.

Very sorry to hear about your home. Best wishes for you and your family.

Tough thing, Dean. I pray for the best for you folks & the others. I hope your Mom is doing ok.

Shit. That frame pic really hits home.

I'm no help on the insurance deal but if you need any fishing gear for MT just speak up! I've got spares of pretty much everything including a pontoon boat and hope to be headed to the Yellowstone this fall.

Wow… So sorry to hear this. I hope all going forward goes as well as it can. It is good to hear that you have a place in MT you can base out of while you figure next steps. That must be some solace. All the best.
