I dunno, more telling are the names not on the list, many HoFers: Joe Theismann, Joe Montana, Bart Starr, Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, Steve Young - I could go on and on...

Also notice many of the names on the current list are from recent years with a longer season.

Not sure come from behind wins is that great a measure of a great quarterback, more a measure of prevent defenses not working an the fact your team was behind in the 3rd quarter, what were you doing for the first 3 Qs if you're that great. ;)

Yup. You won't have many come from behind wins if you're not behind much. Montana to Rice. Elway to anybody.

Well there’s what? 16-17 Super Bowl championships on that list, and another 7-8 Super Bowl appearances. 23-25 total out of 59 super bowls. Plus Unitas won a few before the Super Bowl. It’s pretty good company. 😉

And I guess you could look at it that way or you might think that these qbs played in a lot more important games vs quality opponents. Yes the list contain more recent players as most lists will regarding qb play…. The rules of the game have changed over the years to favor the qb and the passing game. Probably the one stat you won’t see from any recent QBs are interceptions. Some of the great ones had 20+ pick seasons. That just doesn’t fly today with the new rules and expectations.

Elway is in the top ten list. Montana is top 20 and probably would have had more but he didn’t play as much as the others mentioned. In league for 16 years. But had basically 3 years of no to very little play and two half seasons. Some guy named Young crashed his party 🎉. And Young only had 9 full seasons out of 15. The other 6 offered very little playing time.

It’s comparing apples to oranges. The top ten list guys have passing yards of 50-60-70K. They played many more games thus had more opportunities. The Aikmans, Montanas, Young’s, Theismanns and others are basically half in yards or less.

As a Niner fan from that era I can assure you they weren't behind often. Most games were over before half. To be honest it got a little boring at times.
 
Comparing passing numbers across the various eras in the NFL is difficult if not impossible, it's just a different game. A few guys would stand out numbers wise from the older eras, but its all skewed to the newer rules, number of games and offensive philosphies of more modern times.
 
playoff and SB wins the stat that matters. Regarding Montana not even in top 10:

Per ESPN Joe Montana is ranked second all-time in quarterback rankings, behind only Tom Brady.
Sports Illustrated's rated Joe Montana as the number-one clutch quarterback of all time.

I will not disagree. I feel he was Mr. Clutch. I love the story about the Super Bowl vs Cincy when he said Hey that’s John Candy in the crowd …during the final drive in an epic Super Bowl game. Joe Cool 😎

Not to mention dominant defenses and great ground games to dominate the clock...it was a completely different era.
 
Ditto the Seahawks...
Although they will still probably get a couple of false start penalties.
 
Classic....Mahomes asking the refs to let him know when a defender is about to tackle him.... :rolleyes: :LOL: :LOL:
