Actually, not silly at all...and you illustrate my point. You have to have a confluence of various parts of an organization to be great...just not the qb. In my opinion, Bradshaw was a mediocre qb...but had a great running back, dominant defense, great head coach, front office and ownership. '85 Bears had a mediocre qb...but had Sweetness and possibly the greatest defense in the history of football...both Ravens SB's had uber dominant defenses and great coaching...

If Mahomes was on the Seahawks or the Raiders this year, are they 15-1?...

KC has some of the best coaching and game planning that the modern NFL has seen. Put Geno on that team and I bet they still contend for first seed in the AFC. Maybe not 15-1, but they'd still be a top team. They just have strengths all up and down the board.

Not arguing that, just the notion that without 1 particular player he would somehow have less talent - Mahomes still has to get the ball to the receiver, no matter how talented the receiver may be.

Some credit should be given to KC's defense which let the offense not need to score all that much. They just scored as much as they needed to win. I didn't check, but last I heard, they hadn't scored over 30 all season, which is kind of unheard of.

Exactly, even in a down year, they are winning, but why, they changed the gameplay to control the ball with long drives, using a mediocre running attack and what was this year, a mediocre passing attack. Defense kept them in all but 1 (well 2) games. BUT, Mahomes still orchestrated several literally last minute drives to win games. The players around him aren't what make him so talented, but they sure do make him a winner!!!!

I think they make the playoffs...but not beating the Bills or Ravens for 1st seed...

I also think if Mahomes was the Raiders qb a few years back with Davante Adams, Hunter Renfro, Darren Waller and Josh Jacobs, they win the division outright and would be scary in the playoffs...even with no defense...but with Geno on that team, we don't even make the playoffs...

I think he had potential, but I gotta respect Coach MacDonald for not screwing around with team improvements when and where he can. He did a lot of it midseason with the linebacker group, too.
 
Is Geno Smith a coach killer?? :ROFLMAO:
Pay him big money, stay patient! He deserves 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances.

Having watched the Pats with Dante Scharnecchia and then with other O-line coaches, it's occurred to me that of all the position coaches it is the one that may one the most valuable. Bad O-line coaches get OC's fired like bad lead cows get bull elk killed.

Good point! Coach Mac seemed like he was quick to adjust. Completely 180 degree turn from the last decade. Ryan Grubb could not adjust good enough for NFL football. He should start with an assistant coach job first in my opinion.

There's no QB in the world that would make the Raiders 15-1 :cry: 😛

There is a lot of chemistry that goes into a successful football team ,but I am sure not going to try ,and pretend what Mahomes would do, or not do on another team or even speculate . Or what Geno would do with the Chiefs , I will let you guys crystal ball that one . What I do know is what Mahomes has done in his career with the Chiefs . I repeat the team is sitting on 15-2 , and getting healthy . Could they be one ,and done in the playoffs , absolutely , as I have said on any given Sunday .

A lot of teams doing a lot of hiring ,and firing ,some work ,some don't . As they say can't fire the whole team . The head coaches do the firing under them ,with hopes of saving their job , sometimes it works ,sometimes the head coach is just lousy , time will tell with the Seahawks .
