@Josh I didn't know you rode? Nice.

Winds changed overnight and we got a whole new mtn today. This was the slope that wasn't that great on Thursday. Absolutely beautiful skiing.

Yeah, just occurred to me on the lift today that this is 30 years since I learned to snowboard. A few lean seasons in there when the kids were little. But now that they are big enough to ride with me, I've got a whole new adventure.

Took a friend up on the tram today for his first time. He just started skiing a few years ago. He crushed it.

Then while in line we got to talking with a group from Wisconsin. They had skied Liberty Bowl but were curious about some of the steeper terrain. We offered to show 'em around and they were all over it.

They were blown away.

Lots of stoke today.

Damn, I hope you all start getting some snow. Would suck to have another terrible fire season. Feb/Mar can be big months so fingers crossed. Glad I got in a good to trip to BC in January. It will be my lone ski trip of the year as the March trip to the Alps has been postponed again (Covid casualty from March 2020).

My last day in BC was my first day splitboarding and holy shit that was fun.

I skied yesterday for the first time in about 4 years. The last time I was out I made 2 runs and was worried that I might not have it in me for a third. I came off the mountain thinking I was Done For Good with skiing - something I've been doing for over 50 years.

Fast forward several years... Since the pandemic began I've been riding an exercise bike for 45 minutes, 6 days a week. Since that has done so much for my endurance, leg strength and overall fitness I decided I wouldn't give up on skiing until tried it one more time, and yesterday was the day at Mt. Hood Meadows with my daughter.

I'm thrilled to say that we skied for about 3 hours! I came down off one run practically in tears of gratitude. Still lots of room for more leg strength and endurance, but the verdict is clear: Not Yet Done!

Meadows is starting to get a bit thin (like most places in the NW) and the snow was definitely spring-like. (Mother nature clearly hasn't gotten the memo and free calendar. If she had, she'd have known that it is still FEBRUARY and not April!)

Still and all a great day of skiing, and one more thing I can do with my daughter when we're not fishing!

@DFG welcome back.

I have mixed feelings about the next phase for Big Sky. That little tram bucket holds a dear place in my heart. But change is inevitable.

Went up to our friends place, about 30 minutes from Schweitzer, this past weekend. Hit the slopes Saturday all day, and Sunday till about 2PM so we could get back to the super bowl. They haven't received any snow for a while. While we all hope for the deep stuff, this actually turned out great. Saturday was sunny, and hot, Sunday was mostly sunny and warm. We had kids ranging from 10 - 20, and a bunch of us 37 - 42 year olds. We all stayed on the groomers in a huge group for both days. It was really awesome for my kids to be able to ski with all the adults and older kiddos. Some kiddos took their shirts off, or if female, skiid in their sports bras...it was insanely warm, which softened to snow up on the sunny slopes. Beautiful views too!

My kiddos are orange helmet on the snowboard (10) and red jacket on skis (13).

We are blessed to live in an area where snow sports can be a part of our lives. It is cool to see families spending time together on the slopes. Well done parents.

Bridger picked up 6" of high density snow yesterday, exactly what we needed. Heavy snow is in the forecast today with 3" of new just since I've been up. We could see another foot today. I'm heading up early to grab first chair.

Yesterday's video.
