Lets be real, Shannahan got lucky :), and Flores most likely couldn't capitilize on Tua.
But honestly, I'm just an armchair coach and not a very good one ;)
 
There are so many variables. For instance, if the system has an offensive line that can keep the quarterback from having to run for his life on every play, most quarterbacks will shine, or at least have the opportunity to be effective and productive. You can also say the same for many of the other aspects of the game. The better systems address these variables more effectively, which usually translates to more wins.

But, what the hell do I know. I'm just an IT guy. 😁

Was Shannahan part of the team that drafted Trey Lance? If you knew Purdy be this good why wait to the last pick of the 7th round? Think Sahnnahan got lucky with Purdy (who still has a ways to go to prove himself) and maybe outsmarted himself with Lance? It’s a funny thing some times. Why did all those teams pass on Marino? Who the hell is Heath Shuler, Jamarcus Russell, etc?

Yeah he was. Of course he got luck my with Purdy. I wouldn’t call it a strategy to wait till the last pick

I say just tank...keep Russ in, bench him, whatever. Get Caleb Williams. Eat the money for a couple of years, admit your mistake and move on.
 
I think some but not all of Wilson’s issues are also his receivers.
Jeudy hasn’t played anywhere near the level of a mid first round selection and Sutton really hasn’t been the same or as productive since he blew his knee out back in 2020.

totally agree, but man, just watching Wilson play, even though his numbers look GREAT this year, he just looks lost and there are soooo many open receivers on virtually every play (yeah yeah, preaching to the choir here). That's what Sean Payton's offense gives you, always has. It's just looked so damn choppy. Maybe they'll get if figured out, but I'm not holding my breath. Of course, that's super easy to see on my big screen 4k from my couch, so there is that.

I really love that Marvin Mims kid though, he can fly.

That's always been a Wilson staple - stats look great... but he does not look as good as his stats when you watch.

Yeah, I'm seeing that!

I'm just ready for Stidham to play. He may not be all that great, but I know he can run Payton's offense better than Russ. Time to admit that colossal mistake and move on....maybe get rid of the GM and D coordinator along the way.

Mims played like 12 snaps last game...perplexed
 
I have couple friends who insist Drew Lock will be great and PC with his coaching can tame his gunslinger ways and turnovers. We’ll see, I don’t doubt the kids athleticism and arm talent, it’s the decisions. But he did have a nice little sprint in Denver as a rookie in 2019 and some good games in 2020. Injuries …thumb and shoulder prevented any consistency for him not to mention a revolving doors of OC’s. Tough conditions for any young lad playing that position. It’s a long season and I think he’ll get a shot or two to play and if he does well there will be a big decision to be made at the end of the year.
