I'd like to see Lock play a few games, Geno just isn't effective enough for me!

Geno's fine. When the O-line isn't falling apart, he's as effective as anyone in the league. But his O-line has been all 2nd and 3rd stringers most of the year, and that affects QB play a LOT. That, and games like the Bengals where the game plan went very poorly (long developing routes when the O-line was a wet paper towel).

Niners went all in on Lance because of his ability to break coverage with his feet and his arm strenth, ..only he just wasn't ready, having only played 26 game from high school through college, while Purdy played 4x that number, critical experience for game situations. And being only 23 years old Purdy will get better every year. Shanahan now has his QB, and the Niners have more cap space than any team in the league, so will be able to resign the studs at contract time. Always comes down to injuries for every team...

Mims played like 12 snaps last game...perplexed
yeah, I don't get it. Every time he's targeted something good happens....unlike Jeudy.

Let’s see how he does against the three teams on the schedule left that have much better defenses than ND…Utah, WA & OR…I think he goes 0-3…
he may go 0-3, but it won't be because of his play. USC's D is awful.

I dont know, hes barely average and just getting by, and has no deep ball.

Time will tell!

His deep ball is upper crust - he needs time to stand in the pocket and heave it, which hasn't been happening. Last year, he had one of the best deep balls int he league when given the chance.

The issues you're describing are on the O-line and scheme

The O line has been much better this year than last several yrs(not last week), I still want to see Lock in there, I get you like him, I'm not seeing it.

Again, he has no deep ball, zero, zip, nadda this year. Deepest is 36yrds so far, also not very good states for this year. Only 5 TDs

Frankly I'd rather they run the ball effectively, control the clock, and play good defense than depend on long passes and big QB numbers...
Short, quick passes with yards after the catch, a good running game and stout D is a recipe for wins in football.

we can agree to disagree

Yes their D is awful…but like June Jones and my Hawaii Warriors, best defense is offense…if he’s that good, he will just outscore the opponent. I suspect U.S.C. will not score many points against those three defenses…

Yeah he was. Of course he got luck my with Purdy. I wouldn’t call it a strategy to wait till the last pick

A bit of both really. They liked Purdy and didn't want to have to fight for him as an UDFA so they grabbed him with their final pick. Insurance if Lance didn't work out.

It was lucky nobody else grabbed him though.

Usually when you draft that late you’re looking at a project qb not a savior qb! At not a top tier qb to say the least.

Purdy is the Griese2, Starr 2, Dawson2 version.
He’s deadly accurate, he seems to know what he’s doing, smart, makes quick correct decisions most of the time, good anticipation, arm strength is adequate, foot work is really great, has the right demeanor. Only knock is he is not 6’4” 230 prototype qb size. Did I miss anything. Oh did I say he’s accurate. 🤨. Bounce back game for him next. Had a tough one. But haven’t all the great ones had a so-so or even a really bad game.

Pre snap and immediate post snap reads are things you just can't see from college QBs. Thats what makes it such a roll of the dice.

JT O'Sullivan had a really good cast about how good Purdy is at trusting his receivers by throwing pre-break. And how good he is at putting it where it needs to be.

Reads, anticipation with trust and accuracy makes it all work.
