NFR NFL 2023 Season

Monday night niners against the cowgirls should be a hoot...Purdy, last pick in draft, still undefeated in games he has started and finished, and McCaffrey the best running back on the team since Rodger Craig...barring injuries, this team will remain a tough out for every team in the league

It’s Sunday night, don’t want ya to miss it ;)

IMHO there’s been a large decline in manners and civility recently, the pandemic certainly didn’t help but it began before that; Politics, and social media are drivers that I lay blame on.
Video games and certain violent television shows for yougins to watch in the 90’s and 00’s now adults and living the grand theft auto themed lifestyle.

In general, it's just stupid people feeling more emboldened to be stupid people. Videogames aren't responsible for that.
There are studies that support both sides of this issue and can't really deny either. Perhaps this has always been going on but in todays world with iPhones and instant social media postings we are more privy to it then years past.

Don't want to derail this thread too much... but I've been playing "violent" videogames for 30yrs, and we let our son play them (he's 15). Stupid people are going to be influenced to be stupid by just about anything. Videogames are just an easy scapegoat, but effect probably a fraction of a percent of those who play them.

think the whole 'Americas Team' is hot air initially blown out by Jerry Jones and maintained by the media as clickbait...majority of fans are all about 'their' teams...this game will be a real litmus test, however
the Civil War will be fun this year, daughter is a Duck having graduated from UofO, her daughter a Beaver being a first year student at OS...

Tonight's game is sure to be a ah... game that happens. That's for sure.

Wait there’s an nfl game on tonight?
Some might call it that. It involves the Bears and Commanders (I still wish they stayed the "Washington Football team"). So yeah.

"America's Team" predated JJ by many years - always a media myth, though I suppose a disproportionate number of people who did not have an NFL team of their own gravitated to the Cowboys for some reason, probably the swagger of guys like Don Meredith.

How Cowboys became "America's Team". It was propaganda after their devastating Super Bowl 13 defeat.

Americas team...

Jeff Pearlman, Boys Will Be Boys (2008)

The story of the 1990s Cowboys opens with wide receiver Michael Irvin stabbing a teammate in the neck with a pair of scissors and things get wilder from there. Sex, drugs and violence dominate the off-field stories – oh, and Troy Aikman records a country album. On the field the team returns to glory, winning three Super Bowls before the wheels come off. This is a riveting book.

They probably would have won more Super Bowls, but the ego of the owner forced out a great coach. Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl with the team Jimmy Johnson built.
