NFR NFL 2023 Season

lots of penalties in that game, sure....but aren't those two of the most penalized teams in the league coming in? I mean, I'm surprised that so many people seem surprised... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

it was really one-sided too!

It wasn't the number of penalties, it was just the inconsistency of what was being called and when.

Also, the flags seemed to stop after Dallas took the lead. I'd need to check again, but I don't think any flags were thrown in like the last 5mins.

Refs are graded, and the top tier refs are used already for the SB.
Don't see how posting the names online improves the refs performance though...
Yea, so the NFL says..
ref names with per game rating posted online = league wide accountability to a fan base who repeatedly watchs zebras blow calls and change the outcome of games.

In today's climate, publishing names of folks is just downright asking for trouble; just a bad idea in my estimation. Who here would like their name published for having a bad day at work?

Go Chiefs

the names of the referees is already known, and the assigneds crew is listed for each game.
The core issue is the referee's union absolutely refuses to let the NFL publish crew scores.
2.3B is bet on NFL games throughout the season. Wonder how much of that changes hands due to bad calls.

If you're dumb enough to bet on a game in a league organized as 'entertainment', then you get what you deserve.

...Play stupid games, win stupid prizes...

Or win a stupid amount of money πŸ’°

Yeah, like I said, the whole sports betting thing is the main deal keeping me from totally shutting the door on the possibility of foul play at some level. The NFL, a sports entertainment business, is partnered with gambling. What could possibly go wrong?

I mean, the one topic I'm 100% sure there was funny business is the Seahawks / Steelers Super Bowl. I thought rewatching it would put it to bed and make me realize I was being dramatic in my remembrance... It had quite the opposite affect.

Anyways... I'll stop. Just years of frustration with this problem that seems to only get worse causing me to vent.

Because the refs are literally above criticism. Coaches and players get fined for even bringing it up, and the rest of us are just going to tune in and watch the next week anyways.

Like I said, I'm not taking a strong stance on this conspiracy thing. All I know is I keep seeing a pattern, and it's already made me less motivated to watch other games throughout the week, which I used to do a LOT of. I watch the Seahawks and that's about it now. Seeing this same pattern of bad officiating is just getting hard to ignore for me. This year things have been so much more egregious, and I started noticing it a few seasons ago.
Time has a way of making things change from what really happened to what I think may have happened. Holmgren and the Seahawks Vs. the Steelers (2006 superbowl): I remember watching that game and wondering about many officials calls that seemed wrong, to me blatantly in favor of the Steelers. I think Holmgren said something like he didn't know the Hawks were going to have to play the officials as well as the Steelers (or something along those lines).

"We knew it was going to be tough going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers," Holmgren said. "I didn't know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well."

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers ....all 3 of them.

Regarding the refs, if only they hadn't blown several calls in SB 48, Broncos woulda won going away. I mean a block in the back in the kick return for a TD. A missed D holding on that first play of the game....not to mention all of the late hits on SEA D throughout the game that weren't called....

that sounds pretty ridiculous, eh?

Eagles D is just releasing the hounds on pretty much each down. It's a good game plan, but hard to sustain for 4 quarters. Should be a good game.

It appears as though 1 quarter is the answer.
