Got to spend about four hours and cover a couple of miles of the Rio Cabeza de Castor this morning. On the water at 5:20 AM just about the time the sun started to peek. Off around 10AM as the wind picked up. River was low and relatively clear. By 8AM, bugs--caddis, pmd and tricos came off in choking hoards but didn't seem to entice the browns into rising. Not really necessary as the big pine squirrel buggers was dredging them up routinely. Lots of small fish (10-14") which was a good sign for the river. Still tagged five biggies over the course of the morning.

Best fish of the morning - A fat male with a mouth full of teeth.
Hotspot Warning:

No matter when I fish the Rio Cabeza de Castor, this obstruction in the middle of the main flow damn near always holds a fish--many times as this morning--a large one.
