After a stroke yesterday my pal Johnny died today. We have been friends since high school class of 72 and fly fishers since the late 80’s. He never posted here since he didn’t have internet but many of you knew him and fished with him.
He was one of the best at all facets, from tying flies, casting, and reading the water. He would fish our favorite catch and release Lake in the Olympics with his little dog 🐶 on his float tube. If I remember correctly he is the only person I know who caught a King Salmon, Steelhead, Rainbow, Cutthroat, and Silver on a 3 day camping trip to a coastal Washington river. I believe all those fish were caught on dry flies also. I guess I misspoke he was family. Dave

It sounds like you had an amazing and long friendship with Johnny. I’m sorry, that must be tough to lose.
 
I'm very sorry for your loss. It sounds like Johnny was a great friend and fisher.
 
I met Johnny about 40+ years ago when @Go Fish introduced me to him. He became a great friend and we had many fun days fishing together over the years.
As mentioned, quite a few members had the privilege to meet Johnny. He was a great friend with a big heart and will be missed dearly. He lived life to the fullest despite some health setbacks later in life.
Here is the picture of Johnny doing what he did best, catching a big searun cutthroat on Hood Canal which I had the privilege to net for him.

This is very sad to hear Dave! I have fished Hood Canal with John and @Stonedfish and many times over the past 10+ years. I will always remember him for his kindness and happy disposition. Those trips in the Spring and Fall fishing for cutthroat and chatting on the beach will always be fond memories. John didn't know me well, but he was always welcoming and conversation was easy. He freely shared fishing reports and tips fishing the beaches. Now I regret I didn't make the time to fish the Canal this past Spring, it won't be the same without John. In my memories I'll be seeing him walk his tiny white pooch through the mist and drizzle. 😥
 
May he rest in peace. My condolences to those of you who knew Johnny and lost a friend. "Remember the good" . . .
 
Thank you all for help remembering someone special. The pain is still fresh but will fade. The memories will last as long as I do. Johnny was also a master dog trainer, expert in wines and a incredible chef working at high end restaurants in Hawaii and San Diego. Dave K
