Looking for info on Watermaster Grizz Value

Landlocked

Steelhead
I have a buddy who has cancer that returned with a vengance. He's fought a pretty hard battle once, now its back, and he's back dealing with radiation treatments. He asked if I could sell his Watermaster Grizzly, which bums me out. I'm back in Salt Lake, and the WM just isn't as popular back here as the local Scadden, and Flycraft stuff. I've looked around on the web and found some old sales data, but really not much in the way of WM Grizzlies on the market now. I think its about 5-years old, not a ton of use, upgraded package with the cargo net, rod holder, mesh side bag, upgraded carry handles, then the regular pump, stripping apron. dry bag.... Only thing I found wrong was one D-ring patch about 1/3 of the way coming unglued. Looking for a little direction on pricing it for him and thought back home, you'd have better info and see more of these for sale. He asked if I could try to get $1200 for it (looks like they start new at $1895 now), so I put it up locally for that with little attention in a week on market. Obviously its too high. So looking for better pricing input. Was trying to first sell locally, but if we have to ship will figure out shipping (although I just shipped a medium sized box with a stuffed animal in it back to Oklahoma for my grand niece that cost 3x what the damn stuffie cost...no wonder Prime works)! Thanks for the input.

Did a quick Google search. There were a couple for sale on the Spey Pages site as recently as 2024. They were looking for $1000 with shipping included

Been one for sale on Facebook marketplace recently here in Northern Oregon. Similar to what you’re describing, but a little older and the plywood in the seat platform is cracked. It’s been listed for $650 for several weeks.

I just sold one that was about 12 yrs old (I bought it used) for $450. Only upgrade on it was a stripping apron. Was on marketplace for about 3 weeks before got a serious inquiry.

First off, sorry to hear about your friend. Cancers Sucks.

And then, FAAAAAK! I would have bought it from you 3 weeks ago for $1100!

I have a bunch of comments but I gotta run out the door so I'll add more later

Me again....and I'll start by saying I hate selling stuff....the whole bit....setting a price and then dealing with the dickering....some people love it....I'm not one of them. And then I also don't like spending a bunch of money...so I might not jump on something unless it's a screaming deal... or its something I really, really want.

I shared this just to give an idea where I'm coming from.👆

To me, for what you described $1000-$1200 is a fair deal....but I really wanted a WM. If your friend is in a hurry to part with it, he might have to take less money UNLESS lightning strikes and you happen to find the right person quickly.....otherwise I'm guessing it'll have to sit until that person comes along or it's a better deal than anything else in his area.

For example, Lue Taylor has had a basically new Fishcat up for sale since Jan 29th. The starting price was decent but it hasn't moved and so the price has been dropped a couple times. Now it's an even better deal but still it's not moving. Further, there was a nice looking Outcast Commander for $1400 that was on FB in my area for probably 6 weeks before it was either sold or pulled.

In the latter part of February, Rich from WaterMaster told me people are not spending money right now. He's been attending trade shows, has talked with a lot of people, and said there's been a bunch of interest but no one is buying.

With this in mind, here's some other stuff to consider with the pricing.
-You had the retail price right....but for someone who's a repeat customer....or buying at a trade show, the sticker price will be less.
-The lifetime warranty is for the initial buyer only, so it won't transfer to whoever buys it from your friend...and this could make a big difference to some people.
- Shipping the raft only from the shop in Montana to Bellingham was $90.....and I can only guess Rich gets a business deal on shipping. Throw in the oars and the other stuff your friend has and I guestimate you'll easily be over $100.

All that said, good luck helping your buddy.
