Cue the bird…now!I stop and snap a photo or two from this spot over and over as I like the vista and it's on my way as I drive to/from our place in Beaver. I've posted several in this thread, like here and here.
Last week, I had my old Mamiya 6 medium format film camera with me for a longer-term project I've been working on so pulled over for a quick shot. Not a great photo at all but a very different vibe than the ones linked above and probably a little closer to what I normally do with my cameras.

Is that the Slide Hole? If so, that high bank sure looks different. I haven't been in there for a while.
Sure is! It fished very well fwiwIs that the Slide Hole? If so, that high bank sure looks different. I haven't been in there for a while.
Aw, just let 'er rip! You reminded me of a spring Chinook fishing trip out of Cathlamet years ago in my friend's boat. There were 3 of us launching in an early morning fog. You have to get around the downstream end of an island before making way across the main channel of the Columbia. My friend apparently tired of putt putting our way down and around, so he just opened the throttle before I could tell him he was driving straight onto a sand bar. We backed off OK, and it coulda' been worse. He might have become impatient and T-boned a freighter in the main river. It’s gonna be slow going today….
Otherworldly! Love the play of sun and shadows (that kayak again!).
