Kayak/Pontoon boat PFD recommendations?

With one partially frozen shoulder and the other with a partially torn rotator cuff, I wonder how I could reach the tabs on top to close them? ;-) Very interesting pfd!

Why would you want to turn off a safety feature?
Sometimes automatically deployed features are a hindrance, especially if you wade deep. Plus I’ve heard of a couple accidental deployments. That’s why I went with the one I have, it had both but the ability to remove the auto feature.

I don't wade that deep - so I guess that would be an issue for others, not me. I don't buy the accidental deployment bit unless someone falls overboard accidentally. Certainly, no rainstorm, at least in my opinion, will cause an accidental CO2 discharge.

Good luck, be well.

I have the NRS Chinook; I don't go on the water without it regardless of boat type. I find that I really don't notice that I have it on, even in my Outcast Fatcat. @Freestone has recommended bright colors so were more visible to motorboat drivers. Mine is green, I wish I'd bought this: https://www.nrs.com/nrs-chinook-os-fishing-pfd/pda2
I just bought one of those for my granddaughter. I have used a Chinook for several years now and would never be on the water without it.

Your NRS Chinook is a regular life-jacket on it's own without any additional inflation needed, like with a CO2 cartridge..? I didn't see mention of a CO2 cartridge being needed..

Helmuth!
You’re back 👍. The Chinook is a type III with 16 pounds of floatation. Comfy

After finally looking at a bunch of PFDs in person, I settled on the Onyx Movevent Dynamic. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles as the NRS or others, but it's only $60 at LFS. Figured if I decide I need said bells and whistles I can keep this one as a 2nd/loaner and pony up. Two lake days in and I don't feel like I'm missing anything.
