Kayak Outriggers for canoe

Life of the Party
Some what fly fishing related, I'm getting into duck hunting and I have an easy rider heron canoe.

I live that the thing is so lightweight but it is so tippy. I am also considering using my larger boat and strapping the canoe to the front before paddling into shore. That makes me feel even more concerned while transferring from my craft to the canoe.

One of my thoughts was to try and outrigger as that would be much more stable and if the weather did turn, make me feel much safer.

So has anyone had any experience with those outriggers out there? I saw some cheap inflatable ones for like 80 bucks on Amazon or is a more expensive option recommend?

Also would love to hear anybody's hints or tips about transporting a canoe on another boat. I'm totally new at this.

Thanks!

I think a canoe is one of the least safe options for someone solo, especially late season in cold water and heavy clothes. They can sink fast and are hard to empty solo. I almost died for real when a wind gust tipped me out of my canoe, on a half ice covered pond. I'd find and use a mini rowboat, stable kayak, or even something inflatable 10/10 times.

This.

Look up nucanoe frontier. Stupid stable. Wouldn't take it out in heavy water but would be a perfect pond rig.

With the canoe, I’m not sure how the outrigger is secured to the gunnel. I expect there is away, but it would have to be a solid connection if you are relying on the outrigger.

EasyRider boats are very well made and I think I’ve seen sail rigs and dagger boards attached to these canoes. I just don’t remember how the dagger was mounted.

An option for you might be a used Hobie Pro Angler in a dull color. Pretty much a love child between a kayak and a jon boat.

I made an outrigger for my 18’ canoe out of pvc and crab pot floats. Worked well and it attached to both gunnels via bolts and wing nuts through the scuppers. Damn ugly, though, so I gave it to a friend for their canoe.

Spring Creek makes an awesome system (https://www.springcreek.com/product.../hd-canoe-stabilizer-floats-complete-package/) but if you’re a bit handy you can buy the parts separately.
Did you feel like it was stable enough to transfer from a big boat to it?
