I recently fished the John Day River. After the trip, I wrote a blog because I truly think it's one of the best places in the Pacific Northwest to introduce kids to fly fishing.
I spent most of the trip throwing size 6 crawfish patterns, but honestly, just about anything would have worked! I dont know how many fish I caught but it was a ton. Most of them were small and after about an hour I downsized to a 10ft 4wt which was a blast.
