Jetties— they can be hazardous

Man that absolutely sucks. It can be a fun way to fish, but you have got keep safety #1 in mind.

I know some of you have fished from the Hammond jetty.
That the responding LEO used a drone to almost immediately locate the victim upon his arrival at the scene is testimony to his intelligence/training and just how useful drones can be.

I grew up spending my summers on the South Jersey coast. After baseball season my folks dumped me off at my grandparents place in Cape May and I spent those summers fishing alone on jetties ("rock piles" as my father called them). Rod and gear in hand, I used to pretend that I was an eagles running back dodging tacklers in full sprint atop of those slippery black dolerite boulders. In hindsight it's a miracle that I didn't kill myself, but that was life growing up as a Gen X kid. I grew to love Rush's music in part because of the song Natural Science which was about tidal pools. There was a tidal pool depression on most jetty rock and I spent almost as much time watching those creatures as I did fishing. Jetties may be unforgiving but can also be an incredible source of inspiration and fascination.
