I recently purchased a new Jackery Explorer 1000 V2, a much updated and more powerful version of my 3 year old Explorer 1000. The new model features 1500 W of power while the old one is just 1000 W. And it charges much more rapidly, is lighter in weight, is the same size and now has the more convenient fold down handle. A lot to like and the cost was actually lower than the old 1000.
I took it on a recent 14 day road trip and since I had plenty of room I brought the old 1000 along also. It was a damned good thing I did because 4 days out the DC output of the new unit failed and it wouldn't power up my Iceco refrigerator which is what I bought it for. No amount of fooling around with it would get it to work although the AC function was unaffected. I swapped it out for the old unit and that ran flawlessly to the end of the trip. Had I not taken the old one the trip would have been considerably more difficult.
Upon returning home I contacted Jackery and tried to get some resolution to the problem but it has been well over a week now and they keep handing me off from one person to another and asking the same questions over and over. They want me to send pictures or movies of the problem but there is nothing to see, it just doesn't work. It is damned irritating to me because so many of the reviews on the internet were by "influencers" that were gifted to them by Jackery for their reviews. I, on the other hand-an old man on a fixed income who paid with his own money and received a faulty unit-keeps getting the runaround and still no word of any attempt on the part of Jackery to own up to the problem. Why these big companies want to stiff their customer base is beyond my comprehension. They give away units to some YouTube personality but can't take responsibility to a paying customer for a faulty product.
If they were just trying to stall me around until I got fed up with their bullshit, it worked. Today, October 8, EcoFlow has their outstanding new Delta 3 Plus model on sale for $629 marked down from $900. It is even more powerful at 1800W than the Jackery and charges faster and employs the latest in battery technology. Not knowing if I will ever get any satisfaction from Jackery I ordered one but probably won't receive it in time for fall camping. Here on the frozen tundra with frequent power outages it is nice to have some backup power on hand to light up those dark evenings in winter when the power fails.
If at some point if Jackery does the right thing I will immediately retract all of this but at the moment it appears that I am just getting jerked around needlessly for something that isn't my fault.
