Is this where it’s headed

I live on a small lake. Music is not normally an issue except for my neighbor.

Occasionally there is a big outdoor party with a live band. Sometimes the music is great. Other times not so much. Music always stops at 10:00 pm. We all appreciate that a lot! Nice to see and hear people having fun.

My neighbor plays loud music outdoors a lot, usually with lots of expletives, just to annoy the neighbors. Numerous neighbors have called LE and they show up too.

The best music I hear is someone playing a flute Occasionally. The music wafting through the trees and across the water. So beautiful, relaxing, and greatly appreciated too.

I rarely, if ever, hear any music from people out on the lake.

Music has its place in the outdoors when done for the right reasons.

105 decibels seems a little excessive for blasting Pink Pony Club while floating down the St Joe.

Pacific Raceways, The Ridge Motorsports Park, and Portland International Raceway all have noise restrictions of 103db for most club racing/track day events.

Haven’t really looked at a fishing magazine in years, proved again why, but thumbed through a fairly recent copy of flyfisherman. This add is what surprised me. Am I going to have to be surrounded by f@$%#Ing drones and people blasting there music tastes. WTF

Thoroughly disgusting.

I'd rather get mauled my a grizzly bears because I was too quiet than take city noise into nature. Want music out there? Pack a guitar

No thanks to blasting the tunes!

I'll listen to a podcast or audiobook from my phone in my jon boat, but if others are nearby or approaching, I'll hit pause. Audiobooks are a great way to keep the kids entertained when we are out on the lake all day...speaker not required.

I love music almost as much as fishing. Most times, I try to keep the two separate, to maximize enjoyment and minimize distraction from the things I love. There's a place in my world for sitting on anchor in the Gulf of Mexico, throwing a live shrimp or baitfish off the back, sippin' on a beer, and jammin' the yacht rock, but in fishing-first situations, the only music I want to hear comes from the wildlife.

Your comment reminded me of my Dad who used to sit out on the porch during summer in our suburban neighborhood and play his violin. I could hear it when I was down the street playing... he made it sing beautifully

Occasionally when car camping I bring a Martin Backpacker. It's the only one I don't mind getting limited exposure to the elements. It doesn't sound that great though, plays worse.

Adding, back around 1976 a climbing buddy and I were bouldering above Icicle Creek. We were on a multi-pitch route and he was wearing a backpack. When we got to the top of the route, we sat on a ledge to have a snack. To my astonishment he pulled out a set of Scottish bagpipes. He was a good piper and the sound echoing off the canyon walls was amazing, but then I like pipe bands.

"Because other people aren't annoying enough..."

On second thought, maybe I will get several of these and whenever I hear another bluetooth speaker, I'll just turn them all on and blast some grindcore.

I was camping once at Sun Lakes SP with two of my kids. There was a group of three young guys and a young woman with a baby camped nearby who stayed up drinking and blasting music until dawn. I asked them to turn down the music and they refused. Middle of the night I heard one of them start up their car. The woman started yelling at the guy to get out of her car because he was drunk. The guy revved up the car and immediately drove it into a tree. Thats when things really got loud. They finally went to bed about the time it started getting light. I told the ranger about it the next day. He asked if there was any chance it was a golf cart that they drove into the tree because one had been stolen the night before. Of course I said absolutely. The cops showed up shortly thereafter. They guys had gotten up by that time and left to go fishing, leaving the woman with the baby to deal with the cops. The guys eventually came back and the woman lit into them again. Then the cops came back. It was a mess. That was probably 20 years ago. After multiple experiences like that I don't camp much anymore.

On the other hand, I used to have an elderly neighbor who was an excellent harmonica player. He had a very nice singing voice too. I loved working in my garden on a warm summer day and listen to him playing across the street. He was a gem. Rest in peace Murph.
