If I Had a Life Do Over

my uncle was a navy pilot, then went the air america route after retirement. ended up flying around alaska in all sorts of planes. ended badly taking off with a load of drilling mud - shit happens fast in those/these environments.

I would live a life like Stoney Calhoun who is the Maine Guide protagonist in the mystery series by the late, great William Tapply. If you have not read the 3 books, Bitch Creek, Grey Ghost, and Dark Tiger you really should

I'd be one of these guys

Those guys are certainly badass. And the pilots managing the big tankers too.

Guilty pleasure watching them work the Lyle fire last summer. Horrifying to watch the fire but amazing to watch the fire boss planes on a tight loop almost constantly dropping water, and then it would all clear out and a big plane would come drop the retardant.

In a former life I helped support air operations and currently volunteer with national contingency radio communications so I was interested in how that that wildfire aerial operation was executed.

The National Wildfire Coordinating Group who enables interoperable wildland fire operations among the federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial agencies.

Never too late, Rob

My career was equivalent to 5 different jobs, each one more challenging with more more responsibilities. Buyer, programmer, server administrator, network admin, to network security. Would not change a thing.

What I would change are related to lifestyle e.g.better physical fitness. Paying for it now...
