Current ice dam danger is basically zero on the Kispiox, Klickitat, Clackamas, Skeena, Skagit, Snoqualmie, Snohomish, Skykomish, Stillaguamish, Duckabush, Dosewallips, Chimacum, Suiattle, Sammamish, Sol Duc, Quinault, Hoh, Calawah, Stehekin, Quillayute, Yakima, Chehalis, Wenatchee, Metolius, Umatilla, Walla Walla, Willamette, Palouse, Methow, Cowlitz, Ecola, Elwha, Sammamish and Duwamish rivers. Ditto for Issaquah creek.

So another year is likely to pass without the smash, rattle and tumble of giant ice floes destroying all in their path...

Bummer, every year I get my hopes up for some serious frozen chunklage making its way to the Pacific
 
We need some snow for that to happen right? We finally got a foot of snow on Hood this week but now its back to high 30s and melting rain...

Oh it's coming! I feel it in my bones.
 
Just say ICE dams OUT!! Think of all the poor stonefly nymphs and caddis larvae that get displaced and possibly crushed alive during an ice dam event! Some people’s lack of empathy just makes me sick.
 
It really shows how unusual this winter has been in the PNW. With milder temperatures, it makes sense that ice dams are minimal or nonexistent this year. Still, as conditions can change quickly, it’s always good to stay cautious out there—ice-related hazards can form fast when temperatures drop again.

I gave up on the ski season due to an injured knee, but my biggest concern is the upcoming fire season. Still, there's nothing we can do about it, other than try not to make it any worse.
 
I lived Post, OR. on the Crooked River above the reservoir many, many years ago. Like 1978/79.
We had 60 plus days below freezing and 30 of those days below 0 degrees.
The river froze to the bottom and then flooded over the ice and kept freezing over the river banks.
When it finally broke up it sounded like a freight train running through the valley with house size blocks of ice churning down the river for two days, then came the other junk, trees, lots of dead cows, elk, deer.
I have never seen anything like that ever again.
