Hunting pictures

This is my best hunting pic.. I have big game hunted 6 years .I have seen
one legal animal in that time. Steelhead on dry flies in winter is far far far easier than big game hunting, View attachment 131580 even with a modern rifle. Nothing in fishing is this difficult..
Amazing photo! Thanks for sharing!

It appears you are hunting MD in Central WA. That’s tough sledding. Short season, crappy timing of that short season and there just aren’t great MD populations in most of WA. There are some pockets but not many.

Grand Ronde river.. saw 10 deer one of which was just barely a forkie..

Hey I have a question.. a a forkie... is it Fork in horn meaning 2 points on each side or
Is it fork and horn two on one side one on the other? I always assumed the former.

I would refer to n deer that only has 2 points on either side a forkie…wether it’s 2x2 or 2x1.

Pretty good fire there this summer that burned up a lot of river left. We, dog and I, came back from some spots covered in ash/dust/charcoal. That fire pushed a lot of the animals to other areas.

I took it pretty easy but I could definitely see some of that beauty dissipating when making multiple trips up those mountains to get an animal out :)

The guy who tolerated dragging me out of bed, listened to me breaking branches behind him, and helped me pack out many critters that didn't meet his standards.
He raised me to be a fisherman, a hunter, and to respect the resource.

This year at 81 he's STILL getting it done.
They don't make em like they use to anymore.
Congrats pops.

Dugan and I got to the field yesterday. Surprise: I found a covey of huns in a place I've hunted them for years but hadn't seen any for the last 4. 2024-11-07 11.06.15.jpgDugan had no notion of them, of course. And yeah, I missed.

We were joined by this glamorous couple.2024-11-07 11.21.09.jpg

Going Retro Today.
Back in the day before Rochester was stuffed with housing developments there was actually a ton of "wild" birds and places to hunt em.

My first Chessie standing.
Damn that dog was amazing.
He could lunge and plow through the water while the labs had to swim.
Guys in the blind made me hold him so others could participate.

Miss ya Griz!
