Hunting pictures

The guy who tolerated dragging me out of bed, listened to me breaking branches behind him, and helped me pack out many critters that didn't meet his standards.
He raised me to be a fisherman, a hunter, and to respect the resource.

This year at 81 he's STILL getting it done.
They don't make em like they use to anymore.
Congrats pops.

Looked at that picture and suddenly realized that I knew that guy!!!

One of the best professional foresters I have had the pleasure of working with my career. Pretty good hunter or fisherman as well.

You chose well, when you picked him as father.

Not the same guy?
My pops was a contractor and built commercial buildings.
He worked in the woods around 1960ish logging but that's it.

I don't want to give anyone the impression that this is easy. I put in over 24,000 steps on this day. Most of it feels like walking up current in waist deep water, because these birds are getting deeper into cover these days. My vest is loaded down with water, shells and all of the various items one needs to keep their dog safe and healthy. I still have my beer gut, but damn my legs are getting strong. Anyways, this dog is awesome, and it never ceases to thrill me when we get a bird pointed, flushed and in the bag. We keep finding birds. Even the really big ones.

Great work!
Those C-17s almost appear to be hovering they are so big.

I got out just before Thanksgiving, and we only came up with one quail. I was pretty certain that the late, difficult part of the season was on us, but decided to give it another go yesterday. Six quail and one rooster. After a rough start, the dog settled in and started to do some amazing field work. Rock solid points that held birds. A lot of fun.

I’m getting leg cramps just looking at that terrain! I loved chukar hunting many years ago and I hope bird numbers are still high. Well done and good luck!
I have a friend who lives in Spokane. Big time bird hunter, but also quite talented with training dogs. He has two Drahts which are an extreme pleasure to hunt behind.
We have talked for the past few years about doing a hunt, I finally had the flexibility to go.
Interesting hunt terrain, pretty rugged with minimal timber. 2000' of elevation gain from camp before we really got serious. Dogs did great, sniffing out a mixed bag of huns and chukars. Birds were jumpy though.
Next time I plan to fish too. Might be time to join the ranks of PNW steelheaders.
