No , the real struggle was 8 track .
Folded over book of matches wedged between the 8 track and the player to hold the 8 track in place, scotch tape where it broke, clicking in the middle of songs...

I remember my brother telling me how easily they fit in your shirt pocket vs the 8 track and having to put a match book under the 8 track to get them to play
A guy I know had a small record label, garage band type stuff mostly...did a bunch of 7" singles and EP's

The invention of the 8-track was the bane to the industry. Never had a problem with AM radio before 8-tracks. CD's were much better than tapes, especially in quality of music. Even the iPod is on it last legs of functional usability. AM/FM/SiriusXM/Spotify/iTunes/etc. and Blue Tooth streaming devices work great.

Dude! I always installed my 8 track in the glove box - since I had to get a new one every two weeks or so.
