The last few days my Fishing Buddy has been acting up. I'll be going along in water that I can clearly see is about 10-12' as the sonar says and then suddenly it starts reading 117'...114' 127' and so on for a bit and then it will start reading true again. What the hell is going on? Has it finally bit the dust or is there some setting I need to fool with that I didn't try...which I'm pretty sure is all of them. It seemed to stop doing it for awhile when I increased the sensitivity to 7.

Do you think maybe it's just because it was a very soft bottom and I should just max out the sensitivity?

Or has it finally bit the dust? Cornfused...
 
I've had similar occurrences on with my 120 when I confused it's depth reading by sweeping my kick fin under the transducer. The end result was a much deeper reading. It seems to me that on one occasion I even had to restart it to clear the erroneous depth.

Sometimes I have to restart my 140C; when suddenly the north end of Lake Lenore deepened to 117 feet.

I wondered about that! I had it set next to my legs.
 
Yeah, mine is mounted inside as well. As I mentioned in another thread, I did shorten the transducer leg on mine. Before shortening it, I did get annoyed with when I would kick the transducer leg with the fin. Now I get annoyed when the depth goes wonky when I go underneath it! 117' is a common depth that I get as well when I mess up the sonar beam. Overall, the shorter transducer leg is worth it, but I occasionally do have to re-start the unit.

Gonna jury rig something up tomorrow to get it to the outside of the pontoon. I'd do it right now but it's nap time.

I used one of these voltage converters , to reduce the voltage for a backup camera I added to my Honda Ridgeline. The converter gave out after 5 years of slamming the tailgate. However $16 later I was up and running again. Amazing how cheap electrical components like PWM controllers and these voltage converters are. One of those 12 Ah batteries should last quite a while with your FB 130!
 
The 130 is toast. Picking up a new sonar today. The mount for the 130 is available for free - come pick it up. I also have an old Cabelas around the tube mount also.
