Help with breaking and entering (freezer lock)

How about a screwdriver and a hammer? It always works punching out the ignition stealing cars in the movies and on Cops!
That was discussed a few replies ago. I think I'll trade some hobby locksmithing from @PhilR for some capr fishing, then get more destructive if he's unable to make it happen.

and if that doesn't work, tap in blade screwdriver, force lock to turn, replace.

That didn't work at all. Even tried to use it to kind of pick the lock - feeling around to tap out all the things inside to no avail.

Well, I literally never removed that key from the hole even once. So, nothing so far. Maybe loctite the next one in place?
I think you're on the right track trying to pick it.

On youtube, look up Lock Picking Lawyer or Deviant Ollam channels. They have videos showing how to make your own pick sets.

I recently used one of their videos to make shims cut from a plastic detergent jug to open a garage door on my PA property that mysteriously didn't have a key anymore.

Just by chance, have you tried any other similar looking keys you might have around? That is provided you remember what it looked like.
The reason I suggest this is the key to the screen door at my mom’s house also happened to work on my mailbox…..

Ding ding ding!

I grabbed one of my giant "key rings of mystery" and got to testing. Lo and behold, one of them worked! It was on a smaller ring of two similar keys and one worked, the other didn't.

I have no idea what these were originally for, but I know it wasn't this freezer. The in laws only had the one key and I explicitly remembering we were going to get a duplicate made so we didn't lose it like we just did 😂

So, @PhilR, turns out you don't need to venture to Gresham today 🥳

As do I. Sometimes it pays to be a "selective hoarder."

Turns out your wife actually removed it and put it in your key ring

Do you keep that key ring in the unmatched sock drawer with the extra Tupperware lids?

Nitro always worked in the old westerns….

(I just wished I would have read the thread sooner…glad ya found a solution 😉)
