Help me extend my seat base (make it taller)

OK did some measuring this morning to come up with my final plan.

One of the reasons for this whole thing is that I actually have to remove the whole seat assembly to fit my tuna tote on board when I go tuna fishing. So would just sit on that. It works OK, but I definitely miss having a real seat on the long rides.

Raising the seat 6" will indeed clear the tote, but making the base taller than the tote legs would obstruct it there. By leaving the same round base as it is now, it sits between to of the three legs on one side of the tote.

Here's me and my buddy last summer while he took his turn driving on the troll.

So that leaves me with needing to go back to the plan of splicing the current tube. I will report back once I complete the task.

Why not just buy a longer pipe of the needed diameter?

Done!

Cut a section of 2" schedule 40 to the same length as the base pipe plus extension and ran that through them. Did thru-bolts, and stabilized the joint with this exhaust clamp.

As the famous last words say, "that ain't goin nowhere."
