NFR Happy Winter Solstice to all...

Non-fishing related
Maybe it is just me, but as a PNW lifer I really enjoy the gloom of winter especially for fishing.
There are just a lot less people around, both anglers and none anglers where I like to spend time in the winter.
I also like having four seasons, though if we missed summer that wouldn’t break my heart.
My motto is I'd rather rust then melt.

Having the gear, skillset and ability to enjoy the various seasons here is a critical component of staving off the SAD. I dont ski much anymore, but as a kid the spring fishing, summer adventuring, fall hunting winter skiing thing kept me stoked about each change of the weather. Just as one gets old you feel the change and the excitement for the next.

Having delved deeper into various fisheries is helping to fill this calendar out now.

Just getting outside no matter what the weather is doing (within reason; today is a reasonable exception) is the best therapy for me. If I can’t do that, shining a 10,000 lux LED therapy lamp in my face for 15-30 minutes a day really helps a lot. It also doubles as a fly tying lamp.
