NFR Got any Herp pictures?

Had an old fishing buddy that hooked a turtle on a chronie, and landed it at Lenice. Turtle was not happy. Funny stuff.
Interesting thread, and I hate snakes...the other stuff is ok though.
When in Nicaragua fishing they had snakes, lots of herps in the jungle of all sorts. Has a close call with what our guide called 'Barba amarilla', which sounded like 'baba maria' to my ears, and even though I do ok with Spanish in most cases, i wasn't all that clued in, until they started moving away and brandishing machetes.
Turns out this dude ( not my pic, my pic sucked from the shaking after moved away) is a badass...Bothrops asper, the ultimate pit viper I read later.
Watch where you try and poop in the jungle, all I can say.

Fer-de-lance at 6’ in the Osa, Costa Rica, also vipers.....
They are pretty snakes. Also found poison dart frogs.
CR is incredible. Tapirs, sloths - one with a young one. Bull sharks are a different matter. Saw a saltwater croc swimming up the river with a pelican in it’s mouth.
And the birds are incredible.
We like remote areas. Out of San Jose ASAP.

Cool stuff to see around every corner down there. We were bummed we didn’t see more herps though. We went with these little kids who keep tagging along with us. Kinda kept our outings on the tame side. We wanna go back. Maybe with older (or no) kids, and do some nighttime guided hikes.

Northern Leopard Frog next to the crik:
I think an Eastern Cricket frog, only species that is this tiny. It is a member of the Tree Frog family, though it spends most of its time on the ground and has lost the adhesive toe pads of other typical Tree Frogs. It is considered endangered here in Pennsylvania, but apparently not here on our property in the Poconos, I find them quite readily near our rain garden and by the sand mound.

I just learned that garter snakes eat slugs. I have pictures......
Had a scorpion in a fire pit at Lenice. It was gone when I went for the camera. That lighter snake a rubber boa?
