Yes, and Florida Canyon very close by. Thought we heard one once as they have a very distinctive call but no luck. The tough thing there is that they like the same spot that is the easiest hiking trail so their are always a lot of people trying to do the asme thing.Have you gone up to Madera Canyon to look for elegant trogons?
100%. Especially the Patagonia area, which doesn't "look like AZ" to anyone wha hasn't been there. Very green and lush in the creek valleys and cooler due to the almost 5K' elevation. Super birdy. That area of Southern Arizona is so rich in bird species. Endemics, Sonoran species, Eastern species, Western Species.

We went once and got lucky. My wife is not a birder but she spotted them after we heard them. Cool quail species down there too - might be my favorite. I was sleeping in the back of my car on a forest road one night and had one wake me up. If memory serves it was a Montezuma.Yes, and Florida Canyon very close by. These days they go by the name of "Coppery-tailed Trogon" but I think I liveth told name best. Been an occasional birder forever but only recently tried photographing them. Much harder than my normal static landscape photography.
Yep, Montezuma Quail. That's what we were looking for down in Patagonia yesterday. No luck! But plenty of other cool stuff. We went once and got lucky.
