Got any bird pics?

Hanging at a golf course of all places

Thanks, Boot! She was a real surprise at this particular location , although there is an Osprey nest across the Columbia & upstream a ways.

Should be no surprise at a golf course as they have ponds (water traps) osprey are pretty adaptable. They hunt in the saltwater shallows by my house. Had one with a fish today. Interesting that they orient the fish head first when they fly to reduce drag.

True but this 9 hole course doesn't. It is sandwiched between the Columbia and the highway. The Osprey was on the river side. There was a ton of human & equipment activity (post boat race de-construction) and the golf course was packed, but the bird seemed to be completely at ease. I just happened to look up as I was driving by. I couldn't get her to look directly at me though.

This afternoon a pair kingfishers engaged in aerial dogfights over the lake for maybe half an hour. Lots of yelling at each other, close passes, and theatric splashes into the water (not hunting).

I've never seen that before. Maybe a fight over territory?

They were flying fast and hard to photograph, but here's a couple attempts.
