Go to golden gardens during the summer at 5am. Of course with your fly fishing set up as a disguise …. You’ll be impressed with the not only the figures of the athletes but their skill playing beach volleyball some times. Oh my!!!!

A few days ago we watched original Top Gun since it’s been decades and the new one is coming out .
It was SO cheesy! It’s weird to feel differently about a movie when you get older. But this Top Gun did not stand up well to the times.
So many things wrong with that movie today. The one that sticks out for me (Though i have to say i remember it did back then too) was when Goose dies and Tom Cruise’s character goes to see Goose’s wife/Meg Ryan’s character for the first time after. It’s the scene where she is curled up along in that room in the chair. And what happens? SHE is the one who comforts him, not the other way around. We never hear anything about her loss. It’s all about Tom Cruise/Maverick.
I imagine the new Top Gun is better. But i cannot stand the narcissism of Tom Cruise and even when i was younger he never did it for me. (Val Kilmer was way hotter. And that’s another thing in the original movie. We are supposed to feel that Val Kilmer is the bad guy but in the rewatching he seems to me to be the better character.)

Top Gun is cheesy if you are watching it on your laptop. In my opinion once you get to a decent 5.1 system it becomed really good.
If you are going to go time to go to an IMAX.
The first movie was released in what, 1986? Of course there is some cheese. But the cheese does nothing to detract from the greatness of that film.
