NFR Go see Top Gun - Maverick

I haven't been to a theater in almost 20 years either. Me and my one granddaughter used to go quite a bit. I won't go back to one now because of how much they cost to sit in a seat for about 2 hours. When I was young and went to movies you had two features along with News of the Day and a cartoon. Now all you get in one movie. For about 10 bucks a seat.

Back in my youth I would pay 10 cents to go see my kind of shows. Spend about a buck and get candy and pop corn. And go home with change from that buck. It will soon be out in a video. I'll either buy it or rent it to watch.
Wasn't that when we would show war clips of our boys in Europe fighting the Nazi's?...

Saw it yesterday. Here's my .02.

The opening scene gave me chills. That music is so bad ass.

Much of the film was a walk down memory lane and many times I wanted to cry. It really tapped into that feeling of nostalgia and I couldn't help but think about the 8 year old swimmy seeing the original for the first time. Top Gun changed a generation. We all wanted to be a fighter pilot and wear those Ray Bans.

I still hate that Goose died. Such bullshit.

Tom Cruise looks incredible for his age. Not in some fake plastic surgery kind of way but like he's doing something right. Dude is pushing 60?

Yes, there was a lot of cheeze. I could've done with a lot less but I get it, that is the way movies have gone. That is one of the things I love about the original...it was, for the most part, authentic. The blockbusters coming out of Hollywood now are so over the top unrealistic that it actually has the opposite effect on me. It makes it less impressive. My 17 year old step son thought it was AWESOME though so what do I know.

The actual fighter jet porn was bad ass. That needs to be seen on a big screen with loud surround sound system.

Val Kilmer, remember what a bad ass that dude was? Doc Holliday in Tombstone is one of my favorite characters of all time. Crazy what's happened to him and can't help but feel for the guy.

All in all, it was good. I don't agree that it was better than the first but also don't think that is a fair expectation. It will not be a movie that I will see hundreds of times like the first but would recommend going and seeing it. I will also say that everyone in my group had a good time, including my wife who doesn't really like going to movies. Her mom also had fun.

This will be me and @_WW_ in a few weeks after he rows me on to a 22" brown and that chick in the other boat waves at us.

Except that hideous Danger Zone tune. That makes me squirm every time I hear it. Not even F-14 Tomcats can make that better. 🤮

I did like the movie, cheese and all.
True. I like Loggins, but when it comes to Danger Zone and Footloose I just can't.

Terrific movie. I doubt I have averaged going to the theater more than every other year for many years now. But this one was well worth it.

The best part? No political correctness bull shit stuffed in there.

We went to see it yesterday and it was entertaining.

Lots of 80’s movies were pretty cheesy…most of them actually. I was 10 when the first one came out and I still wear aviators everyday😀. I can’t wait to see it.

I will wait for Netflix
Netflix will only show 60% of what the Imax theatre experience is because when the fighter jets take off the whole theatre rumbles. The chair you sit in bibrates from the intense sound. This film is way better than the first.

Saw it last night.
Our 5th grader and his friend thought it was a little slow. Wife and i liked it, thought it was a decent mix of nostalgia and new.
That was the south lake tahoe airport in the movie. The mountain flying shots looked like canada.

The planes and pilots were from NASLemoore, my town. The woman pilot who flew for the actress pilot is the CO of the squadron. They are doing a fly over town today for an hour, they get so low you can see the pilots faces. Stoke!
