Agreed. Dudes flying fighter jets, riding motorcycles, and scoring chicks...what's not to love.

Top Gun is and will always be badass.

I was woken up by some dumbass calling me, a wrong number, so got to watch SpaceBalls and Blazing Saddles!! Now that's some classic movie shizz!

And yes, I will see the new Top Gun, Maverick! Even though Tom Cruise is a nut job these days... cheers!

Worth seeing on a big screen.. unlike the original it is actually mostly flying scenes. Tom cruise actually shows some depth to his charecter. Also some of the flying is CGI, there are no flyable F-14s in America but you really cannot tell they are cgi.
 
I have not been to a theatre in years at this point. I would assume that prices are elevated for concessions and things now to? 50 dollars for a bucket of popcorn?

I am leaning on being patient and watching at home.

Have you ever thought that he can't stand you either. And he doesn't know you either.

After I wrote this I had a brain fart. The words Can't and Doesn't, you have to print one of these ' signs instead of the letter "o". Why not just use the letter "o" all it is, is a key stroke Then you do not need this sign ' . This just shows you how my brain works. I just can not help myself.
 
Tried to get tickets for the family this afternoon. Pretty much every showing is sold out.

I can't remember a movie with this much hype in a long time.
 
I'm sure some things are better seen on a really big screen. I haven't been to a movie theater in a dozen years. The thing about theaters that turned me off was that after paying to see the movie I still had to sit through 20 to 30 minutes of what are essentially TV commercials before they began playing the "upcoming features" trailers and then the movie. I always thought commercial "were the price of admission" to watch TV shows, but when I pay cash out of pocket at the movie theater, no way am I going to sit through a bunch of GD commercials. That's the equivalent of paying twice. So we watch movies on Netfix or prime.

Except that hideous Danger Zone tune. That makes me squirm every time I hear it. Not even F-14 Tomcats can make that better. 🤮

I did like the movie, cheese and all.
 
This movie was truly awesome. Yes there are some cheesy and super predictable parts, but who cares. Go into the theater with the mindset of "I'm going to have a good time", and it delivers 2 hours of pure entertainment. Worth seeing for sure.
 
I observed the fighter jock scene as an integrated radar / weapons fire control systems technician working primarily flightline launch and recovery for 7 years in a fighter interceptor squadron.

I got to take a couple of flights in a 2-seat trainer; one as a passenger doing aerobatics, and the one where I was given the stick to fly vectors over the Olympics. For a few months before I ETS'd I was assigned to track and report "qualification" status; i.e. the successful missle simulator launch and target hits, for each missle rail on every jet in the squadron during the daily ops staff meeting so I had a lot of interaction with the pilots. Yes, they had a swagger but the 1986 movie was hollywood stupid. Navy TOPGUN students who reference any lines and phrases from the movie(s) are fined.

I'd watch on cable TV but will not pay to see it in a theatre.

Movies used to be awesome, and fun. Can’t wait to see this.
 
I'm thinking the last movie I saw in a theater was "Avatar" in 3D. Been waiting for sequels ever since...hope Cameron doesn't die before he gets it done.

I imagine the new Top Gun is better. But i cannot stand the narcissism of Tom Cruise and even when i was younger he never did it for me. (Val Kilmer was way hotter. And that’s another thing in the original movie. We are supposed to feel that Val Kilmer is the bad guy but in the rewatching he seems to me to be the better character.)

In the eighties a woman's emotions were second to the burden of being a man and the great responsibility of perhaps causing the death of a friend. Meg did the right thing. She should have gone further though into a more supportive posture and slapped some sense into him and told him to buck up and get back in the pilot's seat because Goose would roll over in his grave if he saw Maverick lose his nerves and let trivial things like emotion effect his confidence.

Top Gun was legit, saw it last night. Highly recommend seeing it in the theatre, some movies just hit different on the big screen, this is definitely one of them.
 
I haven't been to a theater in almost 20 years either. Me and my one granddaughter used to go quite a bit. I won't go back to one now because of how much they cost to sit in a seat for about 2 hours. When I was young and went to movies you had two features along with News of the Day and a cartoon. Now all you get in one movie. For about 10 bucks a seat.

Back in my youth I would pay 10 cents to go see my kind of shows. Spend about a buck and get candy and pop corn. And go home with change from that buck. It will soon be out in a video. I'll either buy it or rent it to watch.
