Floating line for big flys warm water and cold

Looking for a bass type taper for throwing large flys for bass and such as well as salt water. Hoping to use it with an older fisher graphite 10wt and a glass Winston 11wt. Figured a modern 10wt would work well with both. Any suggestions

Maybe a Redfish cold? Sierra, Backcountry and other outlets often have 10wt lines for sale. Not sure they have any Redfish cold, but might be worth checking.
I know I've seen them on eBay.

I’d pursue the SA Titan taper, were I you. If you want one line for both, the 9wt Titan would do well as it’s 1.5 sizes heavy (so, like a 10.5). The older graphite will load well, and it will slightly underline the glass rod (which I think would be a good thing).

Other lines to consider: Rio Outbound Short and Orvis Pro Power. The Rio is more likely to tangle and will not last as long as the SA, but it’s more of a bullet taper if you’re into that. The Orvis is a little less aggressive than the SA but that could be better for line control.

Yes that’s what I was trying to achieve. Slightly over lining the fisher 10wt and slightly underlining the glass 11wt. Did not know the titans were that overweight.
I use an airflo redfish taper to throw my giant bass poppers. Also I like the SA bass line but I think 9 wt is as big as that goes.
Will take a look at the red fish taper. Would it preform in cold water

Just saw sky rivers post of a cold version

When the special-purpose (floating) line for my Sage Smallmouth II fly rod started to go downhill on me I spent some time on this topic. Unfortunately Sage stopped making the original line - which mated really well with the rod. I’m guessing it is ~290 grain or so.

So far I have liked the Rio Striper WF8F as a not-perfect-but-good replacement. YMMV but hope you find something you like.

I’m a fan of the titan long more than the titan (for what I do) but I’d think either the titan or titan long could be good lines for your use.

To overcomplicate things, the titan long is 2 sizes heavy (you may find a 9wt to be a good fit). That said, SA’s website has good information on general taper, head length and weight and equally important the weight of the first 30’ of line.

How big of flies?

In the 10wt realm for turning over big flies, the Cortland pike/musky line is amazing. I actually use the intermediate for musky sized poppers, not the floater. For most of my modern 10wt glass, I like the 380gr heads.

edit: I dunno if they still make it or not, but the Cortland Compact is absolute money for the same stuff. It's taper is very similar to the above Cortrland Pike/Musky. The other line I use on the regular for big shit, is the Airflo Sniper.

I’ve appreciated the Airflo SuperDri Bass/Muskie line in 8 weight on a powerful 9.5’ G Loomis IMX 8 weight rod, spring through summer. It needs a stretch when you first start but then fishes well, has a head that isn’t stupid short and turns junk over nicely.

Ended up getting one of the airflo 9wt heavy trout lines that were being given away thanks to John Svan. Will give it a try and maybe cut back the tip if it needs more turnover. Hopefully this will fit with what I’m after
