Fishing License 38% increase July 1, 2025

Not sure what resident housing costs, insurance, etc are now, we sold our home two years ago. Costs prior to that were nothing like Seattle’s high costs.

Florida real estate prices are plummeting! We all know what that foreshadows!

I now live in Florida but grew up in eastern Washington and lived in Seattle from the late β€˜90’s to mid 20’ teens. Here in Florida I am over 65 years old and can fish for free, in marine, estuarine and freshwater. We have no State income tax, gas is about $3.00/gal, property taxes aren’t near Washington’s. I do need extra tags for a few fish but since I catch and release I don’t really need them. Just thought I’d throw that out there.
But the price you pay is having to live in Florida. Been there, done that, no thanks. Seeing Florida with the environmental devastation and political corruption in my rear view mirror made for a very happy day.

Not sure where you live in Florida but you might want to read through this article as the insurance costs skyrocket! And yes, Seattle is not much better but it does have @DimeBrite rain predictions.

I may have just missed it back when I checked an earlier proposed WDFW license cost table on May 4th that did not list the Resident Disabled discount (includes resident 65+ Veteran having any service-connected disability rating). Or somebody in the Legislature heard my whining. The new Resident Disabled Fishing Combo cost did go up 38% to a mere $12.89, but that's better than a 310% increase to $28.83 for the Senior combo license that I would have sucked it up and purchased anyway.

Yeah, but it's Florida, ohhhhh the heat 😧 - and how are the homeowner's insurance (if you can get it) and HOA/condo fees? Lots of tradeoffs.

cheers
Yep, and there’s nothing better than shoveling snow and walking on ice covered walkways especially at my age. BTW, I lived in an upscale community just north of here on Amelia Island. Our house was 3,500 sq ft, five BR, 4 bath and ourHOA fees were less than $300/ YEAR!πŸ˜‚

I have to shovel snow off of my little piece of sidewalk once a year on average. Usually if it's more than an inch or two I just stay home.
