True that about the WBs.Favorite to tie is a royal wulff. I haven’t caught many fish on them though. I haven’t used one in probably 15 years.
Favorite productive fly would be a Woolly Bugger. I’m convinced that grizzly marabou and hen hackle works better than solid colors.
That's a great fly you tied there! I'm a self appointed creativity guru and the son of one of the true masters of fly tying...and I say keep it simple, figure out what to SUBTRACT from a pattern and tie with about 20 percent less bulk. Notice how long it takes to tie a pattern and try to cut that time. Also fly tyers rely on "patterns" like recipes in cooking. It helps me to think more about style and function.I have a problem with creativity when it comes to tying new flies. I usually end up sitting down and just tying another spider or streamer. I have some health issues that might have me tying more while I'm getting better but I'm looking for some ideas on what to tie. I'm wondering what people's favorite flies to tie are despite how they fish? Just flies that you enjoy tying. There are examples in the vice thread but I usually end up with something like this give or take.
