Favorite Fly To Tie?

All these beautiful, classic flies are artful and legit inspirational. I recently went though a lady Caroline saga, and seeing @Dave Westburg incarnations leave me feeling like I left meat on the bone.

But ultimately? I like tying huge wiggly monstrosities. 5 material composite loop? Fuck that, let's go 8. I want what I tie to move like the anamatronic essence of every leech and fish. I want it in technicolor and with garish contrast. I wanna tie dirty hos and intruders and comp loop bunny hybrids until my house is filled with curses and fluff.

And I wanna find a fish to eat my monster.

Variations of the clouser minnow by far.
I’f bet I probably have over 500 of them, but still continue to tie more. They are fun to tie, at least for me. I’ve done well with them on a number of species.

Favorite to tie is a royal wulff. I haven’t caught many fish on them though. I haven’t used one in probably 15 years.

Favorite productive fly would be a Woolly Bugger. I’m convinced that grizzly marabou and hen hackle works better than solid colors.

True that about the WBs.

I have found a Royal Wulff tied in parachute style works quite well. Especially in the smaller (size 16) sizes.

I like tying my gold ribbed hare's ears. Spent a couple years getting them just so. And even when they come out shitty they catch fish.
Tying each one I can picture where I'm gonna fish it, how I'm gonna present it, the eat, and then dream of the eventual capture.

I have a problem with creativity when it comes to tying new flies. I usually end up sitting down and just tying another spider or streamer. I have some health issues that might have me tying more while I'm getting better but I'm looking for some ideas on what to tie. I'm wondering what people's favorite flies to tie are despite how they fish? Just flies that you enjoy tying. There are examples in the vice thread but I usually end up with something like this give or take.

That's a great fly you tied there! I'm a self appointed creativity guru and the son of one of the true masters of fly tying...and I say keep it simple, figure out what to SUBTRACT from a pattern and tie with about 20 percent less bulk. Notice how long it takes to tie a pattern and try to cut that time. Also fly tyers rely on "patterns" like recipes in cooking. It helps me to think more about style and function.

Flies that imitate caddis pupa because nothing is more exciting than the caddis hatch for me. Halfback, Six-Pack, Nyerges Nymph, Chan's Stillwater Pupa. When I am tying them I can visualize the line going tight on a monster Kamloops rainbow followed by acrobatics.

I love fishing the adult caddis even more and I tie a lot of them, but I would never claim to love working with deer or elk hair.
