Ever used Linen or Flax/Linen Fly Rods?

Has anyone here used a linen or flax linen fly rod?

I was looking at the North Fork Composites list of available blanks and found they have two different blanks made out of flax linen. They look like wood, which I suppose is a large part of the appeal to me, but apparently it feels like fiberglass and dampens and recovers more like graphite. Not sure how that plays out in casting or feel, but it's interesting and I'd love to know more about them.

Interesting. Is this a gimmick, or an advance in rodmaking?

I have been a Loomis fan since the IM6 days. He has always been at the forefront on rods, tapers, and materials. All of my current rods are IM6...

I, too, have been wondering about the flax/linen rods for several years. IMHO, if it was a ground changer / break through other manufacturers would of followed.... Might be telling. But at the same time, with newer rods that are so much stiffer, faster, etc. they may not be appreciated as much in the current marketplace.

Would luv to see what others think...

That’s interesting! I had never hear of this material.

I have never owned a Loomis fly rod but I have 7/8 bait-casters from back in my bass fishing days. A G. Loomis rod was always thought to be one of the best if not THE best rod in bass fishing.

That's ducking nuts!

My new NRX+ 595 is a heck of a rod. Like my 8wt too.
I think they know what there doing there and I bet that Linen rod fits it's nitch perfectly.

hey guys I have one of the Linen V rods. I picked it up from a custom builder in January of this year. It’s a 7’9” 3 wt. I have it paired to a Lamson Purist II with Cortland 444 Sylk DT4F and another with the Sylk line in a WF3F. Incredible rod and the review of a mix between bamboo and lamiglass. It’s an incredibly fun little rod and so completely different from the carbon rods.

I included a photo of the rig.

I'll take 2! Let me go start my GoFundMe page... of the $13k Hermes rods of course!

Never even heard of these, but sound interesting, the $395 model from NFC. I have a few fiberglass rods, nothing special, well the original Wright & McGill is, it was my dads rod and my first rod, which I refinished with his name on it and a beautiful feather inlay that Cliff Barker helped me with years ago! I'll take some pictures and bring it to the next Bamboo Fling!

When I first got this rod to test out from the builder all I could find was the $13k rods in Europe. No way on god’s green earth would I ever spend that on a fishing rod, lol. When the builder is able to get the blanks, they sell for $450.
