Europe Destination Ideas

I’m getting married in Greece in September, most of my fiancé’s family lives there , and am in charge of planning our honeymoon destination. Since we’ll be over in Europe already, I’m thinking on planning our honeymoon over there. Any recommendations on countries or more specific destinations? I’ve been looking at Slovenia and have been doing some preliminary research on where to go out there. If any of you have any other suggestions please do let me know!

Congratulations!

If I was in your shoes, I would first of all ask my bride where she'd like to spend this very special event.

Depending on your bride's ideas, maybe also think about these ideas:

Just stay in Greece, for several reasons:
You are already there.
Avoids extra travel during a very busy time of year in a crowded part of the world.
You would be honouring your bride's Greek family in their homeland, and you'd all get to know each other better.
Last but not least, Greece is fricken awesome! I've spent a fair bit of time there, and would go back in a second.

If you choose Greece, go to an island in the Cyclades, which are in the Aegean Sea. Do some research to find one that fits what you want; peace and quiet, nightlife, nature, whatever. If you want to avoid delays to or from the island, which can happen if you go by ferry to and from Athens, due to high winds, choose an island with an airport.

Forget fishing on your honeymoon, unless your bride also fishes.

Great suggestion thank you! Will look at Croatia for sure.

Thank you! I agree with Greece being awesome and yes staying in the country is definitely an option and one we are seriously considering. We will be staying for 3 weeks in Greece with family and plan on taking a week to do our own thing whatever that may be. Luckily my fiance does fly fish! It’s not the main thing we’d do with our time together but we both enjoy it enough. We’ll be in the Peloponnese region, town is called Leonidio, and is somewhat close to Idra and Spetses which are cool islands. A less touristy island may be the move!

Croatia looks amazingly beautiful. I’d pay attention to what Dime suggests when it comes to international travel.

Well done. I have no idea on the seasonality of this fishery, but if it were me heading to the Mediterranean, I’d be looking into the bluefin tuna fishery.

Sweet will do!

The only problem with Copenhagen is that there are some of the prettiest girls in the world there. If the OP goes, he might not have a fiancé when he leaves

You're already close in Greece, so that's where I'd go.

There are many of the nicest people I have ever met. Lots of places to visit including quick trip North to Sweden. One of the things I enjoy is the history including lots of castles. Not as populated and overcrowded as in the Mediterranean. Easier to decompress there. Beautiful countryside too. Also could be a lot more comfort-wise if there is hot summer like last couple years.

And yes some of the most beautiful strawberry blondes in great shape too.
