Anyone watch yesterday’s matches?

Spain v England went as predicted, but England put up a decent effort by earning a goal. The Spanish teenager (turned 17 three days ago!), Lamine Yamal, earned his stripes as the youngest player to score in a Euro Cup. The kid could end up as a future GOAT.

Argentina v Colombia was balls! Both sides threw themselves into the game like their lives depended on it. So many kamikaze tackles leaving bodies lying on the ground. Even Lionel Messi suffered an ankle injury that took him out of the game. Game tied at 0-0 at the end of official time and going into extra time. Argentina managed to put a goal in for the win.

This Copa America final was the most intense footie match I’ve ever seen.

I watched Spain v England and thought it was pretty entertaining. I tried to tune into the Copa America but I guess my free Fox preview had run out and I didn’t feel like trying to find it online for free. Also we had friends over, so I just forgot about it but it sounds like I missed a good one.

Watched the second part of COPA....it was highly entertaining & competitive.

Both Finals were worth seeing. I've finally become a fan. I still don't understand all the nuances concerning fouls & "what you can get away with", but I'm a fan.

Both were outstanding matches. I'm pleased that they were both available without a paywall. I had to root for the underdog in England, but Spain were clearly the superior team. I had mixed allegiances in the Copa final; after USA were eliminated, Argentina and Colombia were my favorite teams. I loved the way Colombia played and was pleased to see James Rodriguez named outstanding player of the tournament, but the experience and depth of the Argentina team came through in the end. I was sorry to see Messi hurt (I hope it isn't serious), but it was great seeing him play for perhaps the last time in a major tournament with that Argentina team. They will go down in history as one of the greatest national teams ever.

Watched both final matches and most of the games leading up to those finals. Lots of great soccer and many close games. Great times for soccer fans.

Both tournaments underline how far the USA is from a being top flight teams. The major USA weakness continues to be at center mid-field.

My wife and I watched both finals, the copa final was a great match. Columbia carried the play in the first half but couldn't break through. Argentina took over in the later part of the second half as Columbia lost steam. I was happy to see Di Maria go out the way he did, he was a force and his play will be missed.

The problem the US has is most of our best athletes are playing other sports, it will take a long time for us to break through that barrier.

I agree!

Many of our potential central mid fielders are basketball point guards. That said the MSL is doing a good job of developing local young talent. The Sounders have Vargas looks to have the potential to be one of those international type midfielders however he announced he would play for Mexico.

I watched the Euro's. I thought that unlike the last Euro finals, this loss could not be entirely pinned on Southgate. I still think he has them play far too defensively, especially early in hte game when the majority of goals are scored. However, he was able to pull the correct levers with his substitutions.
Maybe he is just trying to protect Englands weakness at centerback. Those centerbacks are not too athletic.

Jude Bellingham is really something to watch.

I wish they would hand out yellow cards for flopping, some of those guys are shameless. You watch the replay and the guy was barely touch, yet he's rolling around on the ground like his leg is broken. You really don't see that in the women's game.

They have been saying this since I played thru the 70s, 80s, and 90s…
And They are still saying it.
