Well, now don't I just look ...Port Angeles, round eye.
Hiking out through the shrub steppe this morning I heard, then saw a couple sandhill cranes.
Been texting with the parents back in in New England dealing with blizzard warnings. Our wet, dreary, winters suck but nothing compared to a good, old fashioned, hard New England winter. The first one they’ve had in awhile.

We are down they say 22” of snow this winter in the valley. What can be seen on the distant hill is a north slope, maybe 3”on the ground from last week. It already melted on south slopes.

Last night the frogs were going crazy at my place.
A sure sign.
Hoping for more rain and another river drop. The last one was money.
Probably gonna chase some spring chinook this year if I can stand the others.
It's gonna be an early pond bass season as well.

I saw an osprey yesterday. They usually show up mid to late March around here.
I spotted a couple of warmwater fish, maybe bluegills, maybe green sunfish, warming themselves in the sun in the shallows today.

Several large flocks of sandhill cranes flying over our house in the last week. The neighborhood elk were out in Packwood when we stayed there last week. Snow on the mountain was good with several days of powder snow and one day of groomers and sun. This week I am planning to go fishing one day and skiing the next. Early spring has a nice variety of things to do.

Gave her a good brushing getting out the loose winter coat, and I can see her reddish brown summer colors showing up. She does enjoy the return of the sun and warmth.
