Days on the water - 2022?

I'm somewhere in the 50-60 days.

But thats a bit misleading. I casted a line on 50-60 days out of the year and for the most part caught a fish on everyone of those days (except today). But it was a lot more of we're backpacking as a family and I sneak off and fish for 15-60 minutes, or fish with my kid, or fish with my kid on my back.

I am not looking at 2022 , only looking forward...

i fished the least amount ever.No trips out of town which makes me very sad. This will be corrected in 2023. Screw the pandemic.

My health issues slowed me a lot. Kidney stones and UTI's, both of which took months, just are not fun. This too will be corrected in 2023. Screw the pain. That is what drugs are for.

I live on a nice quality producing lake of a number of species. The best areas for catching fish now have names thanks to @Northern and friends. They include Barking Dog, Barn Red, Twin Downed Logs, Hidden Willow Tree, The Buoy, Lily Heaven and The Steep Bank. My goal is to catch multiple fish multiple times and give each one its own name.

@Northern and friends taught me about warm water species fishing. I always targeted trout. No longer. Crappie at 12" or more and bass that break 8-10lb tippet are now in my sights.

So much to look forward to and learn about. Just try to keep me off my home water.

Then there is the very elusive catfish. Like the one in my avatar. It WILL happen this year!

I hate kidney stones! Those horrid things have kept me from getting in much fishing time this past year as well.

Keep drinking that water RCF!, and hope you can get in more fishing this coming year.
 
I don’t keep track but seemed like I fished about the same as most years. I try to keep it to 4-6 outings a month November through June and 12– 15 from July - October when salmon are around. Not full days, I work full time and have a wife, a house to take care of, etc. so many of these outings are 4 hours or less hitting a local beach. Plus probably additional 10 or so vacation days spent fishing. I’d guess 100 - 110 outings. One thing I’d like to do is fish a little less on 2023. Maybe enjoy some other hobbies a bit. We’ll see. I’ve said that before :).
 
44 days fishing including 40 days fishing bamboo using 20 different bamboo rods. My most remote trip was the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. The most used bamboo rods were Sharpes 13' Spliced 9 weight (5 days) and 9' Wright and McGill Waterseal (5 days). The Sharpes is my steelhead rod and the Waterseal is my salt water rod.

It was an interesting year. I fished quite a bit less than usual overall, almost entirely because WDFW closed about half the local fisheries I spend most of my time on, and the ones they didn't close were less productive than usual.

On the other hand, I fished in more places last year than usual. I spent some time in Florida, including a week in the Keys, where we had a 24-foot center console for several days, but due to weather, crew members prone to seasickness (I think my brother in law would puke on a lake), and a general lack of a clue about how to fish down there, we couldn't get too serious about fishing. We did catch some sharks, a few jacks, and a small cobia. I hooked into something big while trolling a spoon on the way to a dive spot, but I never saw what it was before it came off. Probably a cuda.... I want to go back there and fish with a guide a few days. Maybe a day in the backcountry, a day chasing tarpon/permit/etc., and a day offshore or reef fishing for some groceries....

The most fun I had fishing in Florida was putting around a tributary to the Homosassa River and sight casting to whatever. When I finally figured out you have to strip flies as fast as you possibly can (ideally faster), I started having fun. I caught snook, a redfish, a bunch of mangrove snapper, and even a smallmouth. We saw some jacks cruising from time to time, but they were so fast, it was hard to get a fly in front of them before they were out of range. I turned one, but it decided not to bite at the last second.

Also did Montana in late June. We were about a week early for salmonflies, but the nymphs were fishing really well, so that was fun. Missed fishing with @swimmy this year; next year....

The more fishing we lose around here, the more traveling I'm likely to do in the coming years. I can't really afford it, but I figure I had better get the bucket list trips in before I'm too old to make the most of the fishing.

Quality not quantity.
I think I fished less than last year and I'm going to try to fish more this coming year.
I'm still figuring things out.
I caught some very nice trout in my local small blue lines.
 
Definitely not quantity for me this year.

Quality, however, was off the charts for both actual fishing and folks I was fortunate enough to be able to fish with.

I fished over 200+ days this last year. My local river is closed from March 25 to Memorial day weekend, so basically that was the most time I took off from fishing. I still fished in other places but my local river is my go to. Now that I have turned 16 and have my license, this year I am hoping for more days fishing and expanding the places I go fishing. Hoping to get out of town to fish and try new species like carp. Hoping for my first carp this spring.

I don’t know how many days I was out and about. About the usual I suppose. More this year? I hope so.
